2022 Perodua Axia’s bookings converted to the new 2023 model

KUALA LUMPUR: No, there has been no mistake or misinterpretation at our end. The title means exactly what it reads. Almost all the outstanding orders of the 2022 Axia have been converted to the all-new 2023 Axia!

The news was confirmed by the automaker itself with Perodua President and CEO Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad stating, “Our sales advisors have contacted our customers on the changes of the all-new Perodua Axia and most of our customers agreed to the switch.”

As of January 2023, the national automaker had around 220,000 outstanding bookings in total with a good part of it being for the 2022 Axia. However, with the introduction of the 2023 model (launch to follow soon) and the production of the outgoing model coming to an end, the decision by Perodua makes complete sense.

The switch however comes at a cost as the new Axia costs around 11 to 13 percent more than the 2022 model. The good news is most of the customers have agreed to pay more for the new & enhanced model.

The arguments for the 2023 Axia being an improvement on the previous-gen model are - enhanced dimensions, spacious cabin, more efficient D-CVT gearbox (claimed fuel consumption of up to 27.4 km), and improved safety features (6 airbags & Perodua Smart Drive Assist aids).
