The teaser previews the dark exterior shots of the 2022 Perodua Alza.On which platform, the next-gen Perodua Alza will be based?
The 2022 Perodua Alza will be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform.Perodua has just teased the latest iteration of the Alza on its social media platform, previewing the upcoming MPV's front, side, and rear shots. While the fine detailing of the car is not shown due to dark settings, the broad design bits are apparent.
So, here is what we know about the 2022 Perodua Alza so far -
Design
The teaser shows an X-themed front fascia resembling the new Myvi and Ativa with a Perodua-specific grille and restyled LED headlights. The LED fog lamps are also positioned at the front, and they appear rectangular in shape. At the rear, we can spot new tail lights housing an L-shaped signature, and there is also a trim piece in the centre bridging the gap between lights.
Dimensions
The upcoming Alza underpins the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and will be a reworked Daihatsu Xenia available in Indonesia. The upcoming Toyota Veloz is also expected to get the same architecture. As the new platform is larger than the predecessor, the new MPV is expected to be 4,395 mm longer, 1,730 mm wider, and 1,700 mm tall. On the contrary, the current Alza measures 4220 mm in height, 1695 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height.
Interior
The teaser video did not reveal any cabin shot of the vehicle. Still, we can take reference from the Daihatsu MPV, which comes with a seven-inch touchscreen head unit, a 4.2-inch multi-info display, keyless engine start, two speakers, hill start assist, and advanced safety assist, etc.
Engine
Under the bonnet, the 2022 Perodua Alza will likely get a new 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated Dual VVT-i four-popper engine setup, which also powers the new Myvi. The said engine generates 106 PS of maximum power and 137 Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission, it could borrow the D-CVT automatic gearbox from the Ativa.
That's all we know so far. So are you excited about the upcoming Perodua Alza launch? Let us know in the comments.
