2022 Perodua Alza bookings open now; few details and tentative price revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: After a long wait, Perodua is set to offer you a reinvented ride with the all-new Alza. The bookings for the upgraded 7-seater SUV are now open at all authorised Perodua showrooms nationwide. 

Interested folks can now make reservations and get the benefits of the extended registration period for SST-exempt cars. That means, if you book the new Alza before June 30, 2022, you will be entitled to get an SST exemption if your vehicle gets registered on or before March 31, 2023.

2022 Perodua Alza price and variants

The latest Alza is available in three variants - X, H, and AV with a tentative price ranging between RM 62,000 and RM 75,000 (without insurance and pre-sales tax).

While we still did not get any clear shot of the new Perodua Alza exterior design, the teaser informed us that the latest model would have a versatile styling with new chrome and glossy black front grille.

2022 Perodua Alza comfort & convenience

While raising the comfort and convenience bar, the automaker offers extra room inside the new Alza compared to its predecessor. You also get a rear air-conditioning unit.  

When it comes to luggage capacity, the new SUV offers you 137 litres with all seats in place, which can be expandable up to 498 litres by folding the third row.

2022 Perodua Alza mechanicals

Under the hood of the revamped Alza lies a new 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i engine paired with the latest D-CVT automatic gearbox. While the automaker has not yet revealed its power levels, it confirmed that the new mill is EEV-rated and capable of providing 22 kmpl fuel economy (in MDC mode), touted as the best in its class. 

To provide customers with a better driving experience, Perodua engineers also worked on the ground clearance levels. It now measures 160 mm, considered the best height for a pleasant Malaysian drive in case of an MPV, says the automaker.

With the new Alza, Perodua offers you a whole lot of advanced safety features considering the price category. The car comes equipped with 6 airbags, a 360⁰ Panoramic View, Adaptive Cruise Control, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, Rear Disc Brake, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control with brake assist, and rear sensors.

Further raising the safety quotient of the revamped SUV is the Perodua Smart Drive Assist pack, which comprises an Advanced Safety Assist (ASA), Driver Assist, Parking Assist, and Headlamp Assist. Included in the ASA are Pre-collision Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Brake (for vehicles and pedestrians), Mis-pedal Operational Control and Front Departure Alert. And yes, not to forget that all trims are equipped with Leaving Home Headlamp Assist and Hill-start Assist.

2022 Perodua Alza colour options

The automaker offers the upgraded Alza in five colours - Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Garnet Red, Elegant Black, and Vintage Brown. The latter two are the new ones.

“We took our time in designing this full model change as we truly wanted to understand what improvements our customers wanted, and the New Perodua Alza aims to fulfil these requests,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
