Let’s check out key highlights of the revamped MPV -
New looks
The new Serena comes with new premium looks featuring a new V-Motion grille with the majestic chrome pattern on the front. The grille seamlessly gels with a new pair of restyled LED headlights. The front bumper benefits from the stylish L-shaped inserts which are bigger and more aggressive compared to the units available on the predecessor. Towards the rear, you get the new S-shaped LED tail lights along with a refreshed bumper sprayed with gloss black finishing.
However, the MPV rolls on the same 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant. The former is still finished with plain silver, while the latter gets a new black finishing.
New exterior shade
Nissan offers the latest Serena in a new Dark Metal Grey shade replacing the Cashmere Gold. However, the colour is exclusive for the top-spec Premium Highway Star and comes with the contrasting Diamond Black roof. The ongoing colours options include Brilliant White, Diamond Black, Tungsten Silver (Highway Star), and Radiant Red (Premium Highway Star).
New interior tech
Inside the new Nissan Serena, the most important upgrade you get is a bigger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system. However, the base version features a smaller 6.75-inch unit. With the Premium Highway Star, you also get the new Quilted Nappa leather seats (Fabric upholstery as standard) either in black or brown shade.
Depending on the variant, the 2022 Nissan Serena continues to feature dual-zone automatic climate control, 7.0-inch instrument cluster (with Advanced Driver Assist Display), Zero-gravity seats, keyless entry, push-button start, a 360-degree camera system with Moving Object Detection, six-speakers, 7-USB powered ports, hands-free power-sliding doors, 11.6-inch roof-mounted entertainment monitor, LED interior lighting, “Tech On” mats for folding tray table, seatback sliding system for the second and third row, Trunk Tray, and door visors.
Identical mechanical setup
Nissan made no changes to the Serene hybrid engine. It’s the same 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol mill assisted by a mild-hybrid motor during hard acceleration. The latter also acts as a starter and alternator to manage the idle-stop system and energy recuperation.
The front-wheel drivetrain churns out a maximum power output of 150 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Shifting duties are handled by the same continuously variable transmission.
Speaking of the Serena fuel consumption, Nissan claims the MPV returns a mileage of 7.04 litres per 100 km (or 14.2 kmpl).
Improved safety kit
The new Nissan Serena does not only look better and offer more tech but it is also more safe thanks to the improved safety kit. The improved ADAS suite called the Smart 360-degree safety shield includes the following features -
- Intelligent Predictive Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking
- Blind Spot Warning
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Driver attention warning
The continuing passive safety gears include -
- Six SRS Airbags (2 front, 2 side, and 2 full-length curtain)
- Anti-lock braking system
- Electronic brakeforce distribution
- Brake assist
- Vehicle Dynamic Control
- Traction Control System
- ISOFIX child seat anchors
So, that’s all about the key highlights of the new Nissan Serena. For more information, you can head over to your preferred Nissan dealership and take a test drive.
