2022 Nissan Kicks: What to expect

Have you seen Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM) latest Chinese New Year greeting video? If not, go check it out and you’ll find the 59-second video hinting towards the soon arrival of Nissan Kicks with e-Power system. Amazing, right?

The B-segment crossover was first mentioned for the Malaysian market way back in 2018, however, back then we didn’t have a launch timeline. But now the air is getting clearer around the subject.

So, what will Nissan's latest crossover, the Kicks, bring to the table?

Since its global launch, the Kicks has received a facelift in 2020 and is currently on sale in Thailand where it is available with an e-Power hybrid unit. In other markets, the crossover is offered in non-hybrid powertrains, including a 1.5-litre mill in Cina and a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine in the US.

For Malaysia, as mentioned earlier, we’ll get the e-Power system, like the Thai-spec model. As for specs and features, ours is expected to feature the same gears as our neighbors. So, let’s discuss Nissan’s upcoming crossover in detail.

2022 Nissan Kicks design

As can be seen, the new Kicks E-Power excites from every angle. Its two-tone colour, new V-Motion grille, LED headlights with Follow-Me-Home function, 17-inch alloys, signature LED taillamps, and new LED brake lights, all add to its premium design.

The exterior colour palette includes some interesting options like Orange Monarch, Radiant Red, Grey Gun Metallic, Storm White, Yellow Sunlight, and Storm White.

2022 Nissan Kicks cabin

Just like the outside, the Kick’s cabin responds with your lifestyle. The crossover’s interior is fashionably thrilling with the two-tone console and leather seats. All providing a peaceful travelling experience. The car also offers online connectivity at all times along with superb comfort and convenient features.

2022 Nissan Kicks features

The Kicks is not only about style, but functionality as well. The crossover features a spacious and comfortable cabin with a large luggage compartment, 423-litre.

Part of the kit is - height-adjustable driver’s seat, two USB power outlets, steering wheel with audio control, phone system, and switch to control TFT driving information display, push start button, intelligent key (I-Key), electric mirrors with anti-jam protection, front map reading lights, luggage compartment lights, automatic air-con system, 8-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, and AUX-In connectivity, Apple CarPlay connectivity for iOS, Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, and much more.

2022 Nissan Kicks safety

The Kicks e-Power offers a pretty impressive and strong safety shield and is also being awarded a 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP. The kit includes - six SRS airbags, pre-tensioner & load limiter seat belts, ABS with EBD & BA braking system, vehicle dynamic control, intelligent trace control.

Also, part of the kit is an auto brake hold system, rear parking warning, immobilizer key system, hill start assist, intelligent forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, driver attention alert, intelligent around-view monitor, intelligent rear view mirror, moving object detection, rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent cruise control, and blind spot warning system.
