The new Mitsubishi Xpander is likely to make its way to Malaysia later this year.Mitsubishi has already introduced the new Xpander in Indonesia and Thailand. So, while taking references from the neighbouring countries, here is what we expect to see on the 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift.
Slight increase in dimensions
The all-new Mitsubishi Xpander is 20 mm taller than its predecessor, thanks to slightly increased overhangs on the front and rear. The ground clearance of the MPV is also now the highest in the segment at 220 mm. In terms of length, width, and wheelbase, the car measures the same at 4,595 mm, 1,750 mm, and 2,750 mm, respectively.
Redesigned exterior
Unlike the dimensions, the MPV benefits from some significant improvements on the design part. The Dynamic Shield front fascia now sports a fresh grille setup with redesigned LED position lights. In addition, the blocky headlights on the ongoing version are replaced by stylish T-shaped units.
On the rear lies the new T-shaped rear lights with illumination tube, revamped bumper, and tailgate, whereas the sides are donned with the new 17-inch machined two-tone alloy wheels. A new Blade Silver Metallic colour shade is also likely to be added to the Mitsubishi Xpander colour options list.
Advanced interior
The new Xpander’s cabin also hosts several new and improved elements, starting right away with the new Horizontal Axis Design dashboard teamed up with premium materials in black and brown offering a luxurious touch. Upgrades are likely to include -
- A new, sporty and ergonomic steering wheel, which features controls for music and calls and allows precise manoeuvres
- A new High Contrast design for the instrument panel
- New synthetic leather seats with Heat Guard function

Same engine with a new transmission
The all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander will run on the same 1.5-litre inline four-pot gasoline mill generating maximum power of 105 PS and a peak torque of 141 Nm. However, it gets a external exhaust gas recirculation system offering better mileage.
As for the transmission, there is a new Eco-Dynamic CVT unit replacing the old four-speed automatic. According to Mitsubishi, the new system offers better fuel efficiency and better comfort with lower engine noise.
Revised suspension system
The upgraded Xpander is also equipped with a revised suspension system with new high-performance damper valves at the front as well as rear ends. Thus, it promises a safe and comfortable ride to the passengers onboard.
