2022 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift: What is on offer
It was only yesterday that Mitsubishi Motor Corporation teased the all-new Xpander and today the SUV has been unveiled ahead of its showcase at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

2022 Mitsubishi Xpander exterior
The new Xpander showcases the automaker’s signature Dynamic Shield visual design language. At the front, the car benefits from a new grille and bumper design, also present are new headlights with a T-shape design that offers the best lighting for driving.
The side profile receives 17-inch alloys with a two-tone finish and sharp, prominent contour lines running through the car’s length. The rear, on the other hand, gets LED tail lights that are joined by LED brake lights which improve visibility.
As for the dimensions, Mitsubishi has stretched the MPV a bit to ‘create proportions with a high-class feel’. For instance, the front overhang has grown by 75 mm, the rear overhang by 45 mm, and height has increased by 15 to 20 mm. The new Xpander also enjoys a class-leading ground clearance of 220 to 225 mm.
The exterior colour palette now includes a new Blade Silver Metallic hue. Other options include - Deep Bronze Metallic, Quartz Metallic Pearl, Red Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, and Jet Black Mica.

A lot of improvements have been made by the automaker on the comfort and convenience front of the car. Part of the new Xpander cabin kit are several new and improved elements like -
- A new horizontal axis design dashboard with soft pad material
- Tilt & telescopic steering that is redesigned with a smaller airbag housing
- A new meter cluster with a new design and opening animation

- New 8-inch audio head unit with smartphone connectivity
- New digital air-con controls
- Rear USB charging port on the floor console
- New armrest with a cup holder on 2nd row
- 3rd-row power outlet
- Electric parking brake (replacing the previous hand lever parking brake)
- Redesigned centre console (it can now accommodate a larger open tray to hold smartphones)
- Spacious armrest (in a few variants it can even fit 600 ml bottle)
The latter addition not only frees up valuable space on the centre console but also brings the added function of automatic brake hold.
2022 Mitsubishi Xpander engine
Powering the new Xpander is a 1.5-litre inline-four cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 105 PS along with a peak torque of 141 Nm. The said mill benefits from an external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system that further aids the car's mileage figure.
The power is transmitted to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that replaces the pre-facelift four-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Xpander facelift apart from a received exterior and interior benefits from enhanced rigidity, all thanks to the front strut mounting and rear dampers with large cylinders. Further improving the MPVs ride quality is the new high-performance damper valves at both front and rear ends. It also benefits from - cruise control, rear camera, and KOS + Start Stop engine button.

The new Xpander benefits from the RISE body that offers pedestrian protection. Also part of the safety package includes - dual SRS airbag, Active Stability Control (ASC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
