Located in the Sindelfingen region, Mercedes claims the 220,000 sq metre plant that began manufacturing the S-Class in 2020 is fully carbon neutral. All thanks to the massive installation of solar panels and 1400 kWh energy storage systems.
There’s no doubt that the EQS is a landmark vehicle for the company and will surely open new prospects for it. It is positioned on the top of the brand's passenger cars and all-electric EQ range. And with its aerodynamic concept-inspired styling, flexible electric architecture, and windscreen dashboard allow it to stand high up against the likes of the Tesla Model S.
A little head’s on the EV -
The EQS rides on the brand’s latest Electric Vehicle Architecture and will be offered in two trim options - the rear-wheel drive EQS 450+ and the all-paw EQS 580 4Matic. The former is powered by a single ‘eATS’ electric motor assembly on the rear axle that makes 245 kW and 568 Nm. It touches the 100 kmph mark in just 6,2 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 210 kmph.
As for the flagship 580 4Matic model, in addition to the rear axle motor, it also gets one on the front axle and together they churn out 385 kW of power and 855 Nm of torque. It can complete a century sprint in just 4.3 seconds and its top speed is also limited to 210 kmph.
