2022 Maxus T60 launched in Malaysia, here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the most reliable offerings in the pick-up truck segment, the Maxus T60, has arrived in a new avatar in Malaysia. In the latest form, the truck features a bolder exterior, a bump in performance,  an improved safety kit along with some other complimentary upgrades. Let’s dive deeper and know the 2022 Maxus T60 in detail.

Exterior

To begin with, the Maxus pickup gets a refreshed bold front grille, which is finished in a matte black shade. It incorporates the brand’s name in a bold script that runs across the entire width. On the edges of the grille lies the automatic LED headlight paired with daytime running lights, a follow-me-home function, and automatic headlight sensing features.

Also part of the exterior kit is a stainless steel sports bar, side steps, chrome door handles, fog lights, power-folding side mirrors, and 17-inch wheels (19-inch wheels as optional).

Maxus continues to offer the 2022 T60 in six shades - Obsidian Black, Agate Red, Blanc White, Lava Grey, Aurora Silver, and Ocean Blue.

Engine and performance

Powering the all-new Maxus T60 is the same 2.8-litre, 16-valve, DOHC VGT turbocharged engine, however, the automaker now offers it with a performance enhancement kit, called the Maxus Performance Kit. It increases the maximum power from 150 hp to 155 hp and torque from 360 Nm to an impressive 425 Nm. 

This increase in performance leads to improved fuel consumption. The previous figure of 9.6 litres per 100 km has now been reduced to 9 litres per 100 km.

Priced at RM 3k, this performance kit is offered on a complimentary basis for a limited time.

Shifting duties are handled by the same six-speed Punch automatic transmission with a BorgWarner electronically controlled 4WD system and Eaton mechanical differential lock. The available driving modes are – Normal, Eco and Power.

The 2022 Maxus T60 is priced at RM 115,888 (on-the-road excluding insurance), however, you can grab it at a discount of RM 1.500 running for a limited time. With every purchase also comes a complimentary five-year/130,000 km warranty and a four-year/80,000 km free service pack (including parts, lubricants and labour).
