All-new 2022 Lexus NX makes way to Indonesia, will Malaysia be next?

KUALA LUMPUR: While we are still waiting for the launch of the all-new Lexus NX, the luxury crossover SUV made its debut in Indonesia today after hitting the other SEA markets. The full-imported NX is on sale in Indonesia in two hybrid variants - NX 350h Luxury and NX 350h F Sport, priced at IDR 1.339 billion (RM 393,090) and IDR 1.385 billion (RM 406,646), respectively. A petrol-powered NX 250 Luxury trim will join the lineup at a later date.

What does the Indonesia-spec 2022 Lexus NX have on offer?

The new Lexus NX underpins the TNGA-K platform on which models like the Lexus ES, Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Harrier are also based. The said architecture allows the automaker to introduce PHEV models of the SUV. 

However, Lexus is not offering the NX 450h+ trim powered by a 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid system in Indonesia for now. The hybrid model on offer, the NX 350h, is powered by 2.5-litre full-hybrid system that is good for making 242 PS and 239 Nm of torque. It allows the SUV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 8.7 seconds before achieving a top speed of 200 kmph.

In terms of design, the 2022 Lexus NX showcases a more organic and sleeker design language both outside and inside. The practical cabin is equipped with a massive 14-inch infotainment touchscreen coupled with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, Integrated Streaming, and ‘Hey Lexus’ voice assistant. 

Among the other hi-tech appointments are Tazuna Cockpit, 14-thematic interior ambient lighting, digital key, advanced park, wireless charger, Drive Connect capability with Cloud Navigation, Active Sound Control, Mark Levinson 17-speaker 1,800-watt Premium Surround Sound, and much more.

The safety kit is loaded with ten airbags, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, a backup camera, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Smart Stop technology, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Lane Tracing Assist, and more.

Will Malaysia be next on the cards of the 2022 NX launch?

As the new 2022 NX is now available in several Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, we expect the imminent launch in Malaysia.
