2022 Jeep Compass spied, to feature heavy changes inside-out
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2022 Jeep Compass was spotted by Gabetz Spy Unit, doing testing rounds. The images show the car covered in heavy camouflage, making it difficult to recognize the changes. However, what’s interesting is that one of the photos gives us a glimpse of the interior, revealing a new tablet-like infotainment system. It surely is an improvement over the current Uconnect display.
Coming to the car’s exterior profile, apart from the heavy stripy camouflage, the Compass gets additional coverage at its front-fascia, thus making it challenging for us to judge what’s underneath. However, the upper edge of the grille is all that we can see, but it doesn’t reveal much.
The side profile displays standard Compass look and feel; however, it is the rear where we see some revisions. The 2022 Compass will feature a new set of tail lights; they won’t be big, wrap-around units but small or say the same height all the way across. Other changes at the rear end are completely hidden under the camouflage.
Since the company has not revealed any detail about the car or the powertrain, we are left with no choice but to wonder. The 2021 Compass recently got a new 1.3-litre 4-CYL turbo mill that makes 130 hp or 150 hp in the S variant. The Compass 4xe will soon arrive with a plug-in hybrid mill making 190 or 240 hp and an estimated range of 50 km.
Jeep in 2018 announced its 5-year plan, according to which the new Compass is due to arrive in 2022. The company has already revised the 2021 model for Europe, and we expect the updated Compass to come next year, and in the first half, it’ll most likely be ready to transform to the 2022 model year.
