2022 Jeep Compass gets next-gen technology and connectivity
KUALA LUMPUR: With a few exterior cosmetic tweaks and a much more upscale interior, the all-new 2022 Jeep Compass has recently made its appearance at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show. The new Compass will hit the US showrooms this year in five different trims - Sport, Latitude, new Latitude LUX, Limited, and the rugged Trail Rated Trailhawk. According to Jeep, the new model is the most connected, technologically advanced Compass ever.
Proving the above statement are the Compass new interior tech features which include a new Uconnect 5 infotainment system that works five times faster than before, according to the automaker. The system highlights include:
- 8.4-inch touchscreen as standard and 10.1-inch as optional
- Five user profiles that can be customised for music preferences, apps, seat position, mirrors, and climate comfort levels
- Simultaneous connectivity for two Bluetooth-enabled phones
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Alexa “Home to Car” functionality with natural speak voice control
- New Uconnect mobile app
- TomTom navigation
- Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect eight wireless devices
Complementing the new infotainment system is a new 10.25-inch frameless digital TFT gauge cluster and a revised multi-function steering wheel. As for safety, the new 2022 Jeep Compass gets a pack of 75 safety and security features. Some of them are Highway Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Pedestrian/Cyclist Automatic Emergency Braking, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, and Blind Spot Monitoring.
In terms of exterior design, the new Jeep Compass gets a new grille and smaller LED headlights on the front and tweaked tail lights at the back.
Well, on the engine front, we do not see any upgrade. This means the SUV is powered by the same 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder mill churning out a maximum power of 177 hp and a peak torque of 233 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission in front-wheel-drive trims whereas there is a nine-speed automatic gearbox for the all-wheel-drive models.
While the new Jeep Compass launch in the US market will happen by the end of this year, there is no information as to when it will hit the other markets.
