2022 Honda Odyssey launched in Malaysia for RM275,311

KUALA LUMPUR: The current-generation Honda Odyssey luxury MPV has just passed eight years on sale around the globe. This is why Honda Malaysia has decided to launch this refreshed version for Malaysian families.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much does the new Odyssey costs?

The new 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered from RM275,311.
  • Is the new Odyssey a safe car?

The New Odyssey is equipped with advanced safety features of Honda SENSING to give peace of mind to the driver and passengers.
  • Some might say that this latest Odyssey is targeted at families looking at the recently launched Kia Carnival which is priced at RM197,000 and the fact that this 2022 model Odyssey is almost RM78k more. The Kia Carnival is powered by a 2.2 turbocharged diesel engine and has more seats to cater to the very large family whereas this latest Odyssey has 7 seats and a 2.4L petrol engine.

Meanwhile, this latest Honda Odyssey is targeted more towards buyers looking at the Toyota Alphard which is sold by UMW Toyota with a full factory warranty for RM468,000 whilst the many reconditioned used car importers turn around these Alphards faster than any other vehicle in the yard month after month with selling prices of between RM250k to RM320k without a manufacturers warranty and without any proper after-sales included.

Therefore, at RM275k, this latest Odyssey is almost RM193k cheaper than a new Alphard (that's the price of a Kia Carnival). Makes good ownership sense, right?

Mechanically, the new Odyssey is little changed, with the same 173bhp and 225Nm 2.4-litre DOHC naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.

This latest Odyssey inherits the DNA of its predecessors, displaying an outstanding exterior design. At its front, the new Odyssey is fitted with a new front grille, new LED headlights with position lights, and a new front bumper design for a more elegant look.

In terms of rear refinement, the new MPV has a new tail light and a new rear bumper design that further complements its appearance. Completing the exterior that distinguishes this MPV is a new 17” alloy wheel as well as front and rear sequential turn signal lights. Overall, the new Odyssey is refined in its front and rear design, resulting in a wider and sharper dominant stance.

The elegant exterior look and feel continue into its interior with premium upgrades. The new Odyssey features a new dashboard design which includes a storage compartment to provide convenience for users. Seamlessly integrated with the new dashboard design are the new 7” TFT meter and new 8” advanced display audio. The New 7” TFT meter provides clearer car information and safety support with improved usability and convenience while on the road.

Meanwhile, the New 8” Advanced Display Audio connectivity with Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM enables the driver to stay connected with customizable mobile applications while on the road.

The Odyssey is well-known for its outstanding cabin space that offers comfort and versatility, making it the ideal MPV for families and executives who enjoy a luxurious ride.

This Odyssey is offered with a leather interior with its second-row fitted with Captain Cradle Seat and Ottoman for next-level comfort and plush experience.

The seats can be folded forward and backward which offers flexibility to accommodate multiple configurations for passengers to optimize their seating arrangement according to needs.

To give owners added convenience, the New Odyssey is now equipped with Hands-free Power Tailgate at the back with a kick motion under the rear bumper for easy access to its cargo without needing to lift the tailgate.

The New Odyssey is equipped with advanced safety features of Honda SENSING to give peace of mind to the driver and passengers.

The Honda SENSING features in the New Odyssey are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Auto High Beam (AHB).

To further support the safety features in the new Odyssey, Honda maintains features such as Multi-View Camera System with Smart Parking Assist, Blind Spot Information, and Cross Traffic Monitor.

The New Odyssey is available in three elegant and attractive colours which are Platinum White Pearl, Premium Twinkle Black Pearl, and Super Platinum Metallic.
