2021 Toyota Fortuner: Biggest improvements
Finally, we are getting our fair share of treats from Toyota. Last year, the automaker introduced revised versions of two of its best-selling cars - the Innova MPV and the Fortuner SUV. We just enjoyed the new models from a distance, envying our neighbours who received it back then itself. However, it’s better late than never, as now in 2021, Toyota Malaysia has introduced both the facelifted Innova MPV and Fortuner SUV.
For the model year 2021, both the cars feature new design and equipment. Here we’ll be discussing the new Fortuner SUV and the improvements it brings along over and above the ongoing model. As it was only recently that Toyota Malaysia revealed what all the new Fortuner has on offer, with its booking and launch details yet to unfold.
So, without further adieu let’s get on the most significant improvements of the 2021 Fortuner -
Pure & more powerful performance
The new Fortuner benefits from a new engine, a 2.8-litre turbo diesel mill that puts out a maximum power of 204 PS at 3,400 rpm along with a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,600 to 2,800 rpm. The reason behind its superior performance is the newly developed heavy-duty turbocharger. Furthermore, enhanced common-rail fuel injection pressure calls for better fuel efficiency.
Better handling
The 2021 Fortuner is bliss for not only the passengers but also the driver. While the former gets to enjoy the SUVs best-in-class comfort and convenience features, the one behind the steering gets to drive a smooth, powerful vehicle. Besides the new Variable Flow Control (VFC) power steering provided more natural handling with the assistance level varying to match the speeds.
Better connectivity
The Fortuner facelift gets a touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity. Thus, making it easy to access functions like navigation and music via a smartphone.
Speaking of connectivity, like most of the new Toyota models, 2020 Vios & 2021 Yaris, the updated Fortuner SUV also benefits from Toyota’s Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) that constantly monitors and shares Fortuner’s real-time location via a mobile application. Thus, assuring peace of mind to family and friends. It also proves immensely helpful at the time of distress.
Wireless connectivity
This one has become a necessity rather than a luxury. Moving with the pace of time, the new Fortuner SUV gets a wireless charger (optional, Qi standard-compliance devices) making charging effortless and fun.
Power back door
The Fortuner’s kick sensor power tailgate adds to the car’s convenience factor. This handsfree feature makes loading, unloading sun fun and easy too.
Improved lighting
The 2021 Fortuner gets new and improved lighting units both inside and out. At the outside, it gets Quad Expand Headlamps, Daytime Running Lights, and sequential LED turn signal. The cabin benefits from luxurious ambient illumination that sets the mood to cruise.
Stronger safety shield
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of safety and driver-assist features is part of the new Fortuner’s specs sheet. Includes Pre-collision system, Lane Departure Alert with Yaw Assist, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
Conclusion
The 2021 Toyota Fortuner SUV has a lot to offer and is loaded with several features that are sure to make the drive smooth, safe, and enjoyable.
