2021 Toyota Corolla Cross: In Pics

Toyota Malaysia launched the all-new Corolla Cross in the country in March this year and is proving a great addition to the B-segment crossover arena. It is offered in two variant options locally - entry-level 1.8G priced at RM 124,000 and range-topping 1.8V that retails for RM 129,266. Included in the price is a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

Note that the prices are on-the-road without insurance and accounts for the ongoing SST exemption which is 50 % in this case. Why? Well, that's because Corolla Cross is a CBU import from Thailand. CKD locally assembled models, on the other hand, benefit from 100 % exemption and UMW Toyota Motor has revealed its plan from Corolla Cross CKD model which will be built at Bukit Raja Plant. Thus, making it the first TNGA-based model assembled in Malaysia.

Time to put the 2021 Toyota Crolla Cross under the microscope and inspect it bit by bit.

Exterior

The new Corolla Cross exterior showcases athletic sportiness, expressive design language and flowing silhouettes which in turn make a pretty bold statement.

Lighting

 Toyota's latest crossover's lighting setup include Bi-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights with a light curtain design at the front. This striking light strip extends across the grille while attracting all the attention, be it day or night.

At the back are present new LED rear lamps with a light curtain design. Its aesthetic pattern featuring fine lines catches the attention of the drivers behind the wheels.

Massive wheels

The Corolla Cross run on 18-inch alloys whose thin spokes match with the intricate design of the vehicle contours.

Easy open-close tailgate

The Corolla Cross comes with a kick sensor power back door that makes every journey super relaxed. Just a small foot movement under the rear bumper will open the luggage compartment. Speaking of which, the crossover gives you the benefit of a massive boot space of 440-litre that'll fit in various shapes and sizes of loads.

Comfortable rear seat

The Corolla Cross rear seat come with a 6-degree recline angle, supporting a more comfortable posture. It further gets improved cushion material and optimised armrest size.

Interior

The new Corolla Cross gets a luxurious cabin with a visually pleasing cockpit bringing in a sense of calmness. On the practicality front, it comes loaded with storage spaces making sure your belongings are in convenient visibility.

Digital instrument cluster

The crossover offers intelligent connectivity via the 4.2-inch colour multi-information display. It showcases all the crucial vehicle info while maintaining superb visibility.

8-way adjustable driver seat

The comfortable driver's seat benefits from an 8-way power adjuster that with just a push of a button change's the seat position for maximum comfort.

Automatic air-con system

Corolla Cross auto air-con system takes into account the exterior temperature and then adjusts the airflow and compressors working accordingly. Not to forget, it gets rear air-con vents as well making sure everyone is cool and calm.

Amazing infotainment system

The latest Toyota crossover comes with a 9-inch touch screen display with music options and real-time navigation, selectable via built-in controls and smartphone.

Wireless charger

Available as an optional function, the wireless charger offers convenient charging for Qi standard-compliant devices, with no cable required. Also, part of the charging kit is rear USB charging ports whose convenient positioning allows easy charging for rear passengers.

Powertrain

Under the bonnet, the new Corolla Cross houses a 1.8-litre DOHC Dual VVT-i engine pumping out a maximum power of 139 PS along with a peak torque of 172 Nm. This mill balances higher engine output and responsive acceleration with efficiency to deliver amazing mileage.

7-speed CVT with sequential shift

The engine is paired with a fast and efficient 7-speed transmission system which ensures a smooth hassle-free drive. It incorporates a new cooperative control with the electronically-controlled throttle for enhanced fuel economy, drivability, and quietness.

Safety kit

The new Corolla Cross comes with a fully integrated safety kit, putting a strong safety shield on every journey. Included in the bag are - 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front Digital Video Recorder, Hill Start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Warning System, 6 Parking Sensors, and 7 airbags.

Not to forget, the star of the show Toyota Safety Sense pack which includes - Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control for High Speeds, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist for High Speeds, and Lane Departure Alert.

With all this, a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating comes as no surprise.
