2021 Audi S3 revealed in Sedan and Sportback versions

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi unveiled the latest version of its popular A3 earlier this year in the international market. And, now it turned to uncover the sportier 2021 Audi S3. The German automaker recently pulled the wraps off the new S3 Sedan and its Sportback sibling, upgraded with sharper styling, more power, and improved tech. Let's get into the details.

Starting with the design, the all-new S3 features refreshed design elements that look gorgeous. It poses a mean look with the brand's typical single-piece grille and aggressive air intakes. For a sporty stance, it sits lower than the standard model and paired with large alloy wheels and slick silhouette. A sportier bumper, a quad exhaust system, and sharp LED tail lights round off the design.

Powering the S3 is a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine capable of generating 310 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which transfers power to all four wheels. The setup enables the S3 Sedan and S3 Sportback to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

The S3's performance is complemented by a host of other upgrades beneath the skin, including a four-link rear axle, progressive steering, and sporty suspension with damper control. 

Inside the cabin, S3 retains the sporty dashboard available in the standard model. However, it gets a few 'S' specific upgrades such as a flat-bottom steering wheel and upgraded sports seats, which come wrapped in upholstery made from recycled pet bottles. Other highlights are Audi's virtual cockpit and the latest version of its MMI infotainment system.

Standard safety assists that one can find in Audi S3 specs sheet are Audi's pre sense front, swerve assist with turn assist, lane departure warning, lane change and exit warnings, cross-traffic, and park assist systems.

The deliveries of 2021 Audi S3 are set to begin in Europe in October. Pricing of the new S3 Sportback starts at €46,302 (RM 229,613), while the S3 Sedan will begin at €47,179 (RM 233,962). In the local market, the automaker does not sell the sportier S3, but the standard A3 is available at RM 231,359.
