2020 Mercedes-Benz X-Class gets all-black makeover
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz has introduced an all-black X-Class, which is meaner, beefier and more aggressive than the standard model. While there is news that the company might look to end the production of the Navara-based X-Class, a brand-new styling upgrade of the pick-up emerges.
Mercedes-Benz has only managed to sell a little less than 20,000 units of the X-Class since its inception. Clearly, it doesn’t contribute majorly to the company’s sales. Despite that, the company has introduced an all-black variant.
The new style upgrade is called the “Black Package”. As the name suggests, the new X-Class has been given an all-black treatment, including the twin-spoke 18-inch alloys, sidebars and the sports bar.
Additionally, the company is offering it with three-bed cover choices that include soft cover, roll-up and hard tonneau. The exterior colour choices available for the customers looking to buy the Black Package X-Class are White, Silver, Gray, Blue and Black. Inside, the headliner gets the all-black treatment just like some of the outside components.
Noticeably, the Black Package is only available with Progressive and Power Edition top models (X350 d 4 Matic). This means that the X-Class with Black Package will be powered by a V6 turbocharged diesel engine capable of churning out a max power of 250 PS and a peak torque of 550 Nm.
The deliveries of the new Black Package X-Class will commence in March 2020. With this new black edition model, the company looks to boost sales as it is evidently not looking to axe it completely. Also, an extended bed version of the X-Class has been spied testing in Europe. Hence, we aren’t in for the model farewell anytime soon.
