2020 Honda CR-V facelift unveiled with updated styling in the United States

KUALA LUMPUR: CR-V is a popular offering from the Japanese automobile manufacturer, Honda. After almost three years since it was launched, the third generation has obtained its first mid-cycle facelift in the United States.

The facelift highlights a revised list of equipment and refreshed styling. Honda CR-V is one of the best-selling SUV, and it now gets a new hybrid powertrain as well. The electric CR-V made its first debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2017.

The exterior design has received a few updates that include a new bumper at the front end with more extensive openings for the fog lamps. To enhance the styling, it now gets wide-width chrome treatment that appears to be the “moustache” of the car. The grille that is placed between the headlamps has also been updated, which looks much more pronounced. The rear end features all-new graphics and the tail lamps receive tint treatment. In addition to that, the chrome garnish has also been darkened.

The exhaust is hidden under the bumper on the CR-V Hybrid model, whereas the other variants get trapezoidal-shaped exhaust finishers. 2020 Honda CR-V will now come equipped with new-design 18-inch wheels for the EX, EX-L and Hybrid trims, 17-inch for the base model LX, and 19-inch for Touring trims.

The facelifted non-hybrid CR-V variants are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which puts out 190 hp of maximum power and 243 Nm of peak torque. The mill is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and the user gets the option to choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. The CR-V Hybrid model will get an Atkinson-cycle 2.0 litre four-cylinder motor along with two electric motors to churn out some extra miles.
