2019 Perodua Axia launched in six variants
KUALA LUMPUR: 2019 Perodua Axia has been launched in Malaysia at the Perodua Sentral. The car replaces the older facelifted Axia which has been in the market since January 2017. As known to us, the car will be sold in a total of six variants, the prices of which have been confirmed by the company during the launch event.
As mentioned above, Perodua uncovered the new Axia at the Perodua Sentral. The locale is not the originally decided spot as the car was scheduled to be unveiled at the MYPerodua Nation carnival. The carnival that was supposed to take place in Setia Alam from 20-22 September, had been called off due to bad weather.
The company had started taking bookings for the newly launched coaster last month and also revealed all the Axia specs at the same time. The prices were however tentative but have been confirmed today. The pricing starts from RM 24,090 for the entry-level “driving school spec” Standard E variant and scales up to RM 43,190 for the top-end Advance trim. The prices of the other four Axia models are as follows:
- Axia Standard G – RM33,490
- Axia GXtra – RM34,990
- Axia Style – RM38,890
- Axia SE – RM38,890
All the figures are on-road and exclusive of insurance costs. Moreover, the cost increases further by RM 2,000k for East Malaysia. Each of the variants five years or 150,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
The changes from the last facelift model also deserve to be mentioned. The 2017-launched Axia was sold in four variants, to which the company has added two more trims. Furthermore, all the variants now come with the same face unlike the two splits (standard and sportier) which had been in the range till now.
As far as features are concerned, the main highlight is the introduction of Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 safety system in the top-spec Advance trim. Besides, the 2019 Perodua Axia also gets Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) for the first time.
A 1.0-litre VVT-i DOHC naturally-aspirated three-cylinder engine makes its way in the Axia. The mill can churn out a maximum power of 67 hp at 6,000 rpm along with delivering a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm.
