13,000 km, 33-day road trip for Proton X70 owners
KUALA LUMPUR: Road trips are possibly one of the greatest ways to explore the world around you. For car enthusiasts, it’s an opportunity to get to know your four-wheel partner better.
A group of Proton owners decided to embark on a journey starting from the Proton Excellence Centre. The trip will cover over 13,000 km to Hangzhou in China, which is the headquarters of the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The drivers will pass through 13 cities across four countries - Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, and China. Trip duration will be approximately 33 days. The Borneo Automobile Leisure Touring Team has organised it. Vehicles for the trip include nine X70s (different variants) and other models as well, all of which are owned by the participants. Proton and its partners will provide support and maintenance if required. All other expenses are paid for by the members themselves. The convoy is expected to reach Hangzhou by March 12 and arrive in Tanjung Malim on March 28.
Launched in the December of last year, the X70 is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 181 bhp and 258 Nm of torque. Power is delivered via a 6-speed automatic transmission, and top-spec models feature Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Four variants are on offer with prices between RM99,800 and RM123,800.
Good luck to all the participants.
