Top 5 seven-seater cars under RM100K

‘Why buy a sedan when you can get an MPV?’ In relation to this, people are inclined more towards the MPV segment. Of course, it is not everyone’s perspective, but a good chunk of car buyers would like to have a 7-seater MPV over a sedan. And why not? These SUV-like vehicles have got their own set of benefits, like space, road presence, etc.

And it is not just the sedan-population which is turning its attention towards MPVs, but those people who dream of a full-fledged SUV but, unfortunately, cannot afford one, are also eyeing to buy one. Yes, we understand. Each and every one of us has got our own higher limit, and not everyone can purchase their dream car. But worry not, because we have got here a list of top 5 seven-seater vehicles that you can get under RM100K.

1) Honda BR-V

Style, space, efficiency, and performance - this is what Honda promises to provide with its BR-V. This is a full 7-seater crossover that offers a plethora of features to convince you to buy it for all that money of yours.

It looks great, drives well, and has got a whole lot of space inside its cabin. Its large windows make the interior feel much larger, and gives good outside view. You get all the bells and whistles of a modern car, like steering mounted controls, smartphone connectivity, a large touchscreen infotainment system, push to start/stop button, etc..

The Honda BR-V comes with a trustable 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with 120 PS and 145 Nm. It’s coupled with a CVT unit. The starting price of the BR-V is RM 78,176. Its top-end model is priced at RM 84,591.

2) Proton Ertiga

Proton says that its Ertiga is ‘Ready for anything and everything.’ This is with context to its 7-seater spacious interior. There is plenty of room available here. Passengers are at comfort thanks to the good amount of head and legroom. Proton has also provided roof-mounted air conditioning vents for the rear passengers so that they do not feel uncomfortable at all.

When it comes to the looks, this is where things might not work for everyone. The Ertiga is not a bad looking MPV, it is just a bit odd. There is nothing wrong with it, but it would not be everyone’s cup of tea. But as they say, looks are subjective.

The Ertiga promises to offer a great value-for-money package. The base model is priced at RM 53,773.7, whereas the top-end trim costs RM 59,278.12.

3) Toyota Sienta

The Sienta is an affordable 7-seater that comes with latest features to lure in customers. Its Bi-LED headlamps are pretty great. It also comes with various safety features like ABS, EBD, BA, VSC, HAC, Airbags, etc. Looks-wise, the Sienta is decent, something that you can live with, but it’s not the best looking 7-seater out there. It comes with Toyota’s fuel efficient 1.5-liter engine with a 7-speed CVT. Toyota’s products are known for their durability and reliability, and the Sienta is no exception. Its price starts at RM 91,528.

4) Toyota Avanza

Another entry from Toyota is the Avanza. It offers a bold and rugged appearance that is much better than that of the Sienta. It’s huge from the front. At the rear, it has got vertical tail lights with reflectors placed horizontally on the tailgate.

It offers two engine option - 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i engine, and the same engine with 1.3-liter of displacement. The former comes with a 7-speed CVT whereas the latter has got a 5-speed manual gearbox. The price of Avanza starts from RM 66,242.

5) Nissan Grand Livina

The Grand Livina is a very simple looking MPV. It has got one of those family-ish type ambiances around it. That is a good thing depending on your needs and taste. It offers a decent amount of cabin space. There are a few clever touches here and there to let the passengers in the last row know that they are not forgotten. For example, there is a cup holder for the 3rd row.

It comes with two engine options to pick from, and its price starts from RM 82,194. The price crosses the 100k mark based on the trim and optional features.
