Perodua Myvi manual or automatic - Which one to buy?

Perodua Myvi manual or automatic - Which one to buy?

The Perodua Myvi isn’t only about being a practical small car, it is also about getting all the necessary features within a price tag that can be afforded by almost everyone. This is exactly what the automobile buyers of Malaysia have voted for, making it stylish, affordable as well as efficient.

However, even after you have made up your mind of choosing the Perodua Myvi, you will be up for another dilemma to overcome, which is the choice between the automatic and manual transmission option.

If you look into the Perodua Myvi specs, you won’t find many differences between the two transmission variants. Hence, it is mostly about the preference and feel of the buyers themselves. There would just be minor differences in the affordability, as you will find in the Myvi price list, but a few thousand bucks won’t be making a very big difference, will it?

If you have already chosen the preferable Perodua Myvi colors, but still cannot decide between the automatic or manual, you should read along to get a clearer idea of what you actually need.

What you need?

Manual cars have always been considered as the purists’ form or mobility as you have the control in your hands all the time. If you have been driving for a very long time already, you are experienced at gearshifts and knowing which would be the most appropriate gear on any given condition or speed. This keeps you in a better place to be in.

On the contrary, the automatic transmission is best-suited for both newbies as well as experienced as the hassle of gearshifts with the accelerator at the right rev range and speed, while considering the traffic condition too, becomes too much to take at the start. When you are diving the automatic Myvi, you let all of that hassle on the car itself.

Apart from just this, there are some other things that you would want to know about. Here they are -

Fuel consumption: The automatic transmission of the Perodua Myvi Malaysia consumes more fuel than the manual. At an average, the fuel efficiency of the manual is a couple more kilometres over the automatic. This minor efficiency makes a huge difference while on a long drive.

Maintenance cost: Though nothing significant can be found here, the maintenance cost of the automatic version is just marginally more than that of the manual. You might not find a huge difference at the regular services, but once you get a faulty gearbox, the automatic version will cost more for its fixing.

Price: This should not be a very big deciding factor here. The Perodua Myvi price in Malaysia for the automatic variant is just a few thousand more than the manual. Now, if you are willing to buy a new car, paying a couple thousand more won’t make a huge difference.

Something about the car itself

Engine mechanism
The Perodua Myvi is available in two engine trims. The smaller 1.3-litre motor can make 94 PS of power and 121 Nm of torque while the other 1.5-litre version pumps out a better 102 PS of power and 136 NM of torque. For the transmission, you can have either manual or automatic as per your preference.

Conclusion
While buying the Perodua Myvi, the choice of automatic or manual should not be very difficult as it depends on the preference and driving taste. However, for anyone who is buying a car for the first time, if the budget is not a restraint, choosing the automatic version would be a wise thing to do.
