All-new 2023 BMW M2: Detailed in images
BMW is one of the few automakers to have welcomed 2023 in style with the launch of the all-new M2.
The coupe was first unveiled by the automaker in October 2022 during its 50th-anniversary celebration. In Malaysia, the M2 is offered in two variants and is based on the 2 Series Coupe.

The M2 coupe is available in two interior upholstery options - black Vernasca leather with exclusive highlights or blue contrast stitching and Cognac Versace leather with decorative stitching.

Powering the new M2 Coupe is a high-performance M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine that features dynamic power delivery and throaty M engine sound. Helping the mill offer excellent output are efficient technologies like Valvetronic, double VANOS, TwinScroll turbocharger, and high precision injection.

The new M2 bids adieu to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and is only offered with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox with Drivelogic. The said configuration offers several shifting options and allows the car to hit the century sprint in just 4.1 seconds.
The M2 features adaptive M suspension as standard. The adaptive M chassis with variable shock absorber adjustment offers comfortable sporty driving with pronounced agile handling. The setup also comes with Driving Experience Control, which’ll help drivers adapt to the electronically controlled chassis quickly and easily.
Both BMW M2 Variants feature M Compound brakes; while the regular variant features six-piston, single-piston rear calipers in blue, the Pro Package gets the same in red.
The front end showcases clear contours and compact proportions which define the car’s characteristic design. For the model year 2022, the coupe features headlights as adaptive LED individual units along with M lights Shadow Line, a frameless kidney grille with double-bar slats, an aggressive front bumper, and a lip spoiler.
The car’s M Carbon roof is part of the automaker’s intelligent lightweight construction concept and significantly helps reduce the coupe’s weight. It is almost 6 kg lighter than the steel roof and even helps shift the car’s center of gravity downwards and enhance driving dynamics.
Gaze your eyes a little low and one can notice the flared wheel arches, widened side skirts, and 19-inch front & 20-inch rear wheels with double-spoke style M alloys in 930 M bicolor.
The car as a whole showcases a broad and powerful stance on the road. The tail lights for instance are reviewed with a new interpretation of the L-shape design. Also, part of the setup is an aggressive rear bumper, prominent rear diffuser, and signature quad exhausts.
The dashboard features the M leather steering wheel which allows the driver to enjoy a sporty and direct steering feel. Also, the driver can retrieve the preset M Drive configuration at a touch of a button.
Another dashboard highlight is the one-piece, fully-digital BMW Curved Display offering information in a clearly arranged manner and over a large area. The setup combines a 12.3-inch instrument panel along with a 14.9-inch touch Control Display. The car benefits from M sport seats with partially integrated head restraints in bucket seat-style units.
Below the central air vents is present the wireless charging tray wherein one can charge a smartphone on the go wirelessly and conveniently. The charging system comes with a built-in cooling system preventing devices from overheating.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with a large curved display and is an expansion over BMW Live Cockpit Plus with a full-color head-up display. It displays information like navigation instructions and speeds in the driver’s field of vision.
The M2 benefits from the BMW Operating System 8 which simplifies the car’s operation. The highlight is the M-specific design (content in 2D), the M logo, and two M modes (Road & Sport).
The all-new M2 gets a bunch of driver assistance features in form of a Driving Assist Package and Parking Assistance. The former includes - Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info with manual Speed Limit Assistant, Front Collision Warning, Rear Collision Prevention, and Rear Crossing Traffic Warning. The latter consists of Active Park Distance Control, Park Assist, Reversing Assistant, reverse camera, and Lateral Parking.
