2023 Peugeot Landtrek: Features that make it a capable & reliable pickup

The official distributor of Peugeot cars in Malaysia, Bermaz Auto, recently launched the all-new Landtrek pickup in the local market.

Priced at RM 120,072 (on-the-road without insurance), the new French pickup gives stiff competition to the likes of Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-MAX, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, and Nissan Navara. However, unlike its competitors, the Landtrek is offered in a single variant option making it much easier for the buyer to take a quick call.

We will compare the all-new Peugeot Landtrek with its rivals in a separate story. Here the focus is on its most impressive features which help it stand out.

So, without any delay let’s get started -

Impressive & functional design

The new Peugeot Landtrek pickup showcases a distinctive personality that is hard to miss. The vehicle looks extremely modern with its sculpted lines and the Lion bearing on its vertical grille. Adding to its impressive style element is its equally applauding external features. Particularly, its lighting setup includes the brand’s distinctive LED headlamps with signature illumination with auto on/off function, LED Daytime Running Lights, fog lamps at front & rear, and rear combination light.

Also, part of the exterior layout is 18-inch Diamond Cut alloy rims, side steps, and roof rails which offer functional and form advantages.

The cabin design is what sets Landtrek apart from its competitors. The black piano key style toggle switches not only are great to look at and use but also are within the driver. Overall, the cabin styling is a perfect union of taste and functionality, just like its exterior.

An array of useful features

The French automaker has loaded its pickup with several features (both on the outside and inside) which make everyday or even long commutes in the Landtrek super convenient and relaxing.

On the outside, the Landtrek pickup gets rain-sensing windshield wipers with intermittent function, advanced keyless entry, power-adjustable and folding side mirrors with turn indicators, and not to forget extremely useful front & rear parking sensors.

The cabin is equally stocked with useful features which add to the driver’s convenience. The long list of features includes - an engine start/stop button, multi-function steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth hands-free control, cruise control, manual rear view mirror, driver-side one-touch power window with anti-pinch, tilt & telescopic adjustable steering, drive mode selection switch (Eco & Sport mode), and a 4.2-inch color instrument display.

Takes full care of passenger’s comfort

Along with the driver, the new Landtrek gets utmost care of passengers' comfort, thus offering them a fun-filled experience throughout. The car comes equipped with a dual-zone auto climate control system, rear-air-con vents, two 12V power outlets, and several lighting units (map light, cabin light, and external cargo area light).

The five-seater pickup comes with super comfortable seats. Both the driver and front passenger seat gets 6-way power adjustment with 2-way lumbar adjustment. As for the rear seats they come with a 60:40 split fold adjustment.

Keeps you stay connected

A modern-day car is expected to allow its driver and passenger to stay connected with the outside world at all times. The new Landtrek does the same via its infotainment package which includes a 10-inch capacitive touch-screen display with voice control, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio capability, six audio speakers, and three USB ports.

Advanced features at the rescue

Making parking and maneuvering in tight spaces super easy for the driver is the Landtrek’s 360-degree view camera with distance & width guidelines. The system can even be configured to activate automatically on detecting an obstacle.

It also comes equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system that warns the driver when at least one or more tyres are under/over inflated. A useful feature for an off-roader.

A robust engine & impressive off-road versatility

The all-new Peugeot Landtrek is good to go on city roads, highways, and rough terrains. Its capability can not be questioned and it is a matter of least concern for buyers. Under its hood rests a 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine generating a maximum power of 150 hp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm.

The drive is sent to the wheels via a robust 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport and Eco modes, thus offering a pleasurable driving experience and making it a capable off-roader.

Further, adding to its versatility is Landtrek’s electronic 4WD control which optimizes traction as per grip condition.
Helping tame the powerful engine pickup’s brake and suspension setup. The former includes front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes; the latter features double wishbones and leaf springs at both the front and rear ends.

Safety at its best

Peugeot is known for enabling its cars with excellent safety features and the same is the case with the all-new Peugeot Landtrek pickup. Part of the safety kit is several active and passive features including - SRS airbags (driver, front passenger, side front, front & rear curtain units), an electronic stability program (ABS, EBD, EBA, DSC, & ASR), hill descent control, hill start assist, auto door lock, seat belt warning (for the driver, front passenger, & 2nd row), ISOFIX, and engine immobilizer with anti-theft feature.

Part of the pickup’s safety feature is the lane departure warning system which is often found in premium cars. The system warns the driver to keep the vehicle within the lane.
