2023 Kia Niro EV: Detailed in 16 Images

It was only last week that Dinamikjaya Jaya Motors (a subsidiary of Bermaz Auto), the official distributor of Kia cars in Malaysia, launched the all-new Niro EV in the country. Thus making it the brand’s second electric offering after EV6 by the brand.

In Malaysia, Kia is offering the Niro EV as a fully-imported unit from South Korea. It is offered in a sole variant which retails for RM256,668 on the road without insurance. Every purchase is accompanied by a five-year, 150,000-km manufacturer warranty and an eight-year, 160,000-km battery warranty.

The Niro EV is placed between the Hyundai Kona Electric (smaller) and Ioniq 5 (larger), in terms of dimensions. The car measures -

The new Kia Niro is a fully-electric vehicle powered by an underfloor-mounted lithium-ion battery with 64.8 kWh capacity and a front electric motor. Here are the key mechanical features -

The Niro EV features a 400-volt architecture and can achieve a full charge via AC and DC fast charging. Here are the key details

Each purchase is accompanied by a portable three-pin to Type 2 charging cable, however, a full charge with a conventional household outlet will take 27 hours and 30 minutes.

The latest Kia EV supports vehicle-to-load with 3.6 kW output which is enough to power most lifestyle accessories. It will help users power electric devices (inside and outside the car).

The EV features a sleek and striking design which is a unique combination of modern yet simple features, extending all the way from the headlamp to the rear. The front elements also feature - dual LED projector headlights, auto headlamps on/off function, manual headlamp leveling, LED DRLs, and rain-sensing wipers.

The EVs side profile features a sunroof, roof rails, smart keyless door entry, and electric folding & heated outer rear view mirror.

The EVs rear showcases a modern bumper with LED lighting adding to its refined-yet-athletic look. Part of the setup is LED rear combination lamps, LED rear fog lights, rear wiper, and smart powered tailgate.

The EV offers a seating capacity of five with additional features like powered driver seat adjustment, powered with premium relaxation passenger seat adjustment, driver & passenger lumbar adjustment, driver seat with memory function, ventilation and heat front seat, and leatherette seat.

The all-new Niro EV’s dashboard houses an expansive 10.25-inch infotainment display offering an intuitive and vibrant interface. The system allows for several add-on elements like Apple CarPlay & Android Auto integration, and smartphone connectivity to access apps, send messages, and play your favorite music.

The EV features a smartphone wireless charger, and its wireless charging tray bin lets one charge compatible mobile devices.

On the center console is present the space-saving Shift-By-Wire selector that allows the driver to change gear position easily.

On the center fascia of the EV’s dashboard sits a capacitive touch screen which allows the user to switch between climate control and media display with a touch of a button.

Open the front bonnet and there you will be greeted by a 20-liter storage space. It could come in handy to store various items like your charging cable etc.

Kia has left no stone unturned when it comes to the safety and driver assistance side of things. The Niro EV comes equipped with seven airbags (front, side, curtain, and driver’s knee), ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, Rear Occupant Alert, and Safe Exit Assist.

As for an advanced set of safety features the EV gets High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.

Kia is offering its buyers three color options to choose from namely – Snow White Pearl, Mineral Blue, and Cityscape Green.
