Wmoto ES125

For an affordable and entry-level scooter like the WMoto ES125, the design needs a special appreciation. WMoto has made its best attempt to make the ES125 look edgy and unique, which is something rarely seen among the scooters in its segment. It has a combination of a slim profile and edgy-looking body panels, which make it an eye-catching design.

At the front, the WMoto ES125 welcomes you with its sharp and angular-looking compact-sized front apron, which houses a striking-looking Y-shaped all-LED headlamp in the lower centre part of it. This headlamp gets a blacked-out V-shaped design element above it, while its lower corners come attached with inverted L-shaped lights, which are a combination of daytime running LEDs and clear lens turn indicators. These lights are located on the tip of the triangular-shaped faux carbon fibre panel in the side panels of the front apron.

The WMoto ES125 comes with a compact floorboard, where the vertically aligned and aggressively styled side panels of the scooter end up from the top. The scooter has a slim appeal when viewed from the side, with the sleek-looking side body panels below the long seat flowing towards the rearmost tip, which has a pointy tip at the back.

At the rear, the scooter gets split pillion grab rails and an edgy-looking clear lens tail lamp cluster, which houses LED tail lamps. Below this tail lamp cluster, there is a long rear fender, which has LED turn indicators attached to either side. What complements the slim design of the WMoto ES125 is the tall 14-inch wheels, which make the scooter look further athletic.

The WMoto ES125 gets a basic-looking instrument console, which offers bare-basic essential information like speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and warning lamps. The scooter comes equipped with a couple of features like a USB charger and a small under-seat storage compartment.

The WMoto ES125 feels nimble and easy to ride, courtesy of its low kerb weight of 95 kg and a finely-tuned suspension setup, which comprises telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided hydraulic coil spring at the back. The tall 14-inch wheels, which are shod with 70/90-14 tyre at the front and 80/90-14 tyre at the rear, also is a major factor in the fine agility of the scooter. The WMoto ES125 comes equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

The WMoto ES125 sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 118.8cc engine, which is the smallest scooter engine produced by WMoto. Mated to a simple CVT gearbox, this engine produces a maximum power output of 8 bhp and a peak torque output of 9.5 Nm. These are pretty decent figures for a 120cc engine, and keeping in mind the low kerb weight of WMoto ES125, the engine feels peppy while on the go.

For a scooter of its size and price, the WMoto ES125 is equipped with a couple of decent safety features like a key shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole and a parking brake as standard.

The light-weighted chassis, tall wheels and peppy engine of the WMoto ES125 make it one of the easiest and most fun-to-ride scooters available in the country. Though, when compared to its direct Japanese rivals, the scooter feels low on fit and finish levels and can do with more features on offer.
