Triumph Street Triple Design
Compared to the previous-generation model of the Street Triple 765, Triumph has made some minor tweaks and new feature additions to both versions of the motorcycle, which make it feel more premium and look sportier in appearance. Given that this is a proper naked sports roadster, comfort takes a backseat, and aggressiveness is given full priority in its design and riding ergonomics.
This latest iteration of the Triumph Street Triple 765 continues to feature the trademark twin bug-eyed all-LED headlamps, which feature eyebrow-shaped daytime running LEDs over them. There is a V-shaped body-coloured cowl between the upper edges of the headlamps, which are more for aesthetic appeal, as they have minimal purpose in air deflection at higher speeds. While the 765 R gets conventional black rearview mirrors, the 765 RS has café-racer-oriented bar-end rearview mirrors.
The Triumph Street Triple 765 exhibits its muscular and aggressive appeal to the fullest when it is viewed from the side. The well-sculpted fuel tank with a sloping upper surface and edgy and inverted C-shaped fuel tank extensions give this motorcycle a visual bulk, with the latter having LED turn indicators attached to their lower edges. The Triumph Street Triple 765 also has a black-themed engine, five-spoke black alloy wheels, a compact three-into-one exhaust pipe and an exposed trellis frame below the rider’s seat.
The Street Triple 765 RS also gets a couple of add-ons over the more affordable 765 R, such as a sporty-looking engine belly pan and a sporty cowl for the pillion seat. At the rear, both versions of the Triumph Street Triple 765 get a pointy tail section with a U-shaped LED tail lamp nestled under it, with the compact rear fender attached to it having LED turn indicators mounted on it.
The Street Triple 765 R gets the full-LCD instrument console from the Trident 660, which has an LCD for the speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge, and a small TFT screen for gear indicator, odometer, trip meters and clock. Meanwhile, the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS has a more sophisticated full-TFT 5-inch instrument console, which along with all this data, also packs in a fully-functional MID and MyTriumph connectivity system with Bluetooth compatibility.
Street Triple Ride & Handling
Both versions of the Triumph Street Triple 765 are also distinguished when it comes to the chassis components on offer. Both of them have the same aluminium beam twin-spar frame with a two-piece die-cast rear subframe and twin-sided cast aluminium alloy swingarm. The Street Triple 765 R comes equipped with Showa 41mm upside-down separate function forks with adjustable compression and rebound damping and preload adjustment at the front and Showa piggyback reservoir mono-shock with adjustable compression, rebound and preload adjustment at the rear.
Meanwhile, the Street Triple 765 RS has the same suspension setup at the front but gets a more premium Ohlins STX40 piggyback reservoir mono-shock with adjustable compression and rebound damping with preload adjustment at the rear. Both versions of the motorcycle get the same twin 310mm discs at the front and a single 220mm disc at the rear, with the 765 R getting Brembo M4.32 four-piston radial monobloc callipers for the front discs and the 765 RS having Brembo Stylema four-piston radial monobloc callipers. Also, while the 765 R rides on Continental ContiRoad tyres, the sportier 765 RS gets Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 tyres.
Triumph Street Triple Engine & Fuel Consumption
Both the versions of the Triumph Street Triple 765 share a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, inline-three, 765cc engine, which produces a peak power output of 120 PS in the 765 R and 130 PS in the 765 RS, with the peak torque output of 80 Nm being same in both the versions. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, this inline-three engine produces a sweet, characteristic exhaust note, making it one of the best-sounding motorcycles of its category.
Street Triple Braking & Safety
Both the 765 R and 765 RS versions of the Triumph Street Triple 765 come armed with riding aids like cornering ABS and cornering traction control with 6-axis IMU, wheelie control, four riding modes – road, rain, sport and rider, bi-directional quick-shifter and slip-and-assist clutch. However, the 765 RS goes one step above with an additional “track” riding mode.
Triumph Street Triple Verdict
The Triumph Street Triple 765 has aggression written all over it – be it the visual appeal or the way it puts power on the road and handles even at higher speeds.
