Modenas CT 110 Review 2024

To make sure commuting is easy on the pocket, Modenas has come up with the CT110, its most affordable moped on sale in Malaysia right now. With a bare-bones approach, the CT110 takes on the lower end of the commuter segment to cater the people who look for a basic appeal in their ride. The Modenas CT110 is on sale in four color options – Brown, Silver, Red, and White.

Modenas CT 110 Design

The Modenas CT110 is not designed much to be appreciated for the way it looks. Since it has been crafted to cater to the low end of the commuter segment, the CT110 sports a basic design, which though is not a bad one to look at.

The CT110 looks decent with its soberly designed front fascia. The only distinguishing design element being the segmented front headlamp console, which features a sharply designed front headlight and clear lens blinkers placed beside it. The very tiny tinted visor above the headlamp looks nice as well. Beneath the handlebar mounted headlamp sits a plain front apron and high mounted front fender.

Like all of its moped siblings, the CT110’s front apron too extends down towards the engine on the sides, however, it doesn’t feature an aggressive design like others. Even the side body panels below the single piece seat have a simple layout with basic graphics in order to instill some sort of excitement to the otherwise boring profile. The presence of spoke wheels, as well as a simply styled exhaust pipe, suggests its basic entry level nature as well.

At the rear too, the CT110 looks not much fascinating with a very small tail lamp cluster and a long rear fender attached to it. As expected, the instrument console too lacks the wow factor and houses just analog dials for speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge in it. Another thing which makes it feel ‘built to cost’ is the lack of a number of modern comfort and convenience features.

CT 110 Ride & Handling

The Modenas CT110 carries forward its outer simplicity when it comes to the mechanicals under the skin as well. Sitting on a pipe backbone frame, the CT110 features telescopic forks at the front and a trailing swingarm suspension at the rear, which provide a decent plush ride quality for urban commutes. The 14-inch spoke wheels too play their role in making the CT110 an easy machine to handle as well. However, what comes out as a pleasant surprise is the presence of a 220mm disc brake at the front, which along with the 110mm drum brake at the rear, makes the overall braking experience quite nice.

Modenas CT 110 Engine & Fuel Consumption

Powering the Modenas CT110 is the smallest engine of the Modenas family of mopeds. The four-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, 110cc mill which the CT110 comes fitted is paired to a standard  4-speed gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 6.8 PS and a peak torque output of 6.9 Nm. The engine feels refined but falls short of power in higher revs, with the top speed rated at 80 kmph. The Modenas CT110 promises a decent fuel economy of 46.95 kmpl in urban riding conditions.

CT 110 Braking & Safety

Apart from the comfort and convenience features, another list which has been cut short in the Modenas CT110 to keep the costs under control is the list of safety features. Going by the industry standards, the CT110 lacks the presence of ABS or any other big safety feature, and even the presence of a combined braking system has been avoided, which makes it feel Spartan.

Modenas CT 110 Verdict

The Modenas CT110 is not for those who are out for a sporty ride for their commutes or weekend rides. It lacks a sense of emotion or excitement, but it is this basic appeal of the CT110 which makes it a functional bike to travel from one point to another. Everything on the Modenas CT110 feels quite average – be it the engine performance or ride quality. However, the light weighted nature of the Modenas CT110 makes it an easy and light bike to ride and handle, which makes it a preferred ride for newbie riders.
