Modenas Ace 115 Review 2024
To make sure that more and more new youngsters join the world of two wheeler motoring with an accessible price point, Modenas has made the Ace 115 available in the Malaysian market. This entry-level cub class bike might be small and cheap, but it surely promises to make your daily commutes easy and pocket-friendly. The Modenas Ace 115 is available in three dual tone paint schemes – Orange with Black, Red with Black and White with Black.
Modenas Ace 115 Design
The Modenas Ace 115, given its entry-level price positioning, has been pictured as a sporty commuter by the company. With this intent, it has tried to make the bike look trendy, however, the overall design has turned out to be a bit disproportionate and incomplete in some areas.
Take for instance, the front apron design. The Modenas Ace 115 has got an arrow-shaped front headlamp positioned on the front apron with fake air vents positioned on its lower sides, with the overall design of it looking too much bulged out. On the contrary, the handlebar cowl, in which the clear lens turn indicators are integrated, looks very slim and pointy.
Coming to the side profile of the Ace 115, the design has a decent mix of curves and creases, which make it look sporty. The front apron extends well towards the sides in the form of large curvy body panels which show a pattern of flow and also integrates engine cowl towards its bottom. The inner portions of the apron are body colored which look a bit loud as compared to black finished panels on the other bikes. The long single piece seat is wide enough to seat two adults with ease and is well cushioned too. The five-spoke alloy wheels, as well as black finished exhaust, look cheap, though.
The slightly large and bulging out rear side body panels end up in a rather slim and pointy tail section, at the end tip of which is placed a simple looking tail lamp with body colored single piece pillion grab rail.
The pentagon-shaped instrument console of the Modenas Ace 115 looks very basic and incorporates only analog dials for speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. However, a small cubby hole integrated below it on the left side enhances the utility factor on the go.
Ace 115 Ride & Handling
Like the engine, the Modenas Ace 115’s underbody mechanicals too are designed and engineered in a very simple manner. Sitting on square pipe backbone frame, the Ace 115 is fitted with telescopic forks at the front and trailing swing with tilted single chock at the rear. The 14-inch wheels of the Ace 115, along with the light kerb weight, making it feel very agile and sure-footed, especially while driving in the city traffic. The 220mm disc brake at the front and a 110mm drum at the rear provide more than enough stopping power for your daily urban rides.
Modenas Ace 115 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Beneath this small but loud looking bike sits a rather modest four stroke, single cylinder, air cooled, 120cc engine, which is paired to a 4-speed gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 9.9PS and a peak torque output of 9.1Nm. The engine is decently powerful, and thanks to very light kerb weight, it feels light and zippy on the go. Also, at 45.6kmpl, it is decently fuel economic as well.
Ace 115 Braking & Safety
Since the Modenas Ace 115 is positioned as a basic entry level cub class bike, it misses out on many mechanical or electrical safety features found on high-end motorcycles. However, the lockable ignition keyhole in the bike not only provides utility but also acts as an anti-theft mechanism here.
Modenas Ace 115 Verdict
While the half-hearted designing and questionable build quality at some places might deter the Modenas Ace 115 to be a favorite among the more mature riders. However, for teenagers who are new to two-wheeler riding, the Ace 115 acts as a perfect beginning step. The controlled performance, friendly ergonomics. and light weighted chassis make it an easy-to-ride bike for daily urban rides.
