KTNS Scrambler 200 Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The KTNS Scrambler 200 is a lesser-known entry-level dual-purpose motorcycle from the Chinese two-wheeler maker KTNS. Sharing the lineup with cost-effective motorcycles for budget-conscious buyers, the KTNS Scrambler 200 is a motorcycle with a dirt-bike-like appeal, and not an authentic scrambler as its name suggests. The motorcycle is available in the Malaysian two-wheeler market in two colour options orange and green.

KTNS Scrambler 200 Design
The KTNS Scrambler 200 is not what its name feels like. It’s not an authentic scrambler, but a dual-purpose off-road motorcycle with a tall and lean stance. The overall design looks a bit basic, which is helped by the loud colour options and graphics it comes adorned with.
At the front, the KTNS Scrambler 200 gets a small rectangular halogen headlamp, which is surrounded by a large body-coloured cowl and flanked by clear lens halogen turn indicators. There is a high-mounted body-coloured fender with a pointy end and long design above the front tyre, which serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. Adding more purpose and form to the motorcycle are the body-coloured covers around the lower part of the front forks. The KTNS Scrambler 200 also gets a golden theme for the front forks, which makes it look premium.
The side profile of the KTNS Scrambler 200 also looks as purposeful as the front profile, with a compact and slim fuel tank placed at a height. This fuel tank is surrounded here by K-shaped fuel tank extensions, which make the motorcycle look large and bulky. The functional aspect of the motorcycle is reflected here in the side profile too, thanks to the rugged-looking silver-coloured bash plate, spoke wheels and off-road tyres. The engine and spoke wheels here are finished in a theme of black.
While moving towards the rear, you will see that the KTNS Scrambler 200 comes with a high-mounted exhaust pipe covered with body-coloured shrouds over it. This makes it look even more purposeful than it is. The long seat and slim rear side body panels of the KTNS Scrambler 200 end up with a large rear fender, at the top of which there is a small tail lamp. Behind the pillion seat, the motorcycle gets split silver-coloured pillion grab rails.
The rider’s cockpit of the KTNS Scrambler 200 looks fairly simple too, with an almost flat handlebar having a small round-shaped fully-digital instrument console. Perhaps the only cool-looking feature of this motorcycle, this round-themed instrument console gets digital readouts for the speedometer, tachometer, trip meters, odometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, clock and a trip computer. While the unit is informative, it is not pleasant to read due to the small fonts which are hard to read while in motion. The KTNS Scrambler 200 is also plagued with poor fit and finish levels, showing its low-quality Chinese roots.
Scrambler 200 Ride & Handling
The KTNS Scrambler 200 gets mechanical hardware similar to proper and functional mechanical hardware. Equipped with long travel upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, the KTNS Scrambler 200 gets off-road tyres over the 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel. The motorcycle comes with disc brakes as standard at both ends.
KTNS Scrambler 200 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the KTNS Scrambler 200 is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 199.1cc engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power output of 15.4 PS, while a peak torque output of 14.5 Nm. Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine feels a league behind other 200cc engines in terms of outright performance, and has a claimed top speed of 100 kmph.
Scrambler 200 Braking & Safety
The KTNS Scrambler 200 misses out on modern-day safety features, and it even doesn’t get an ABS, which is a big miss.
KTNS Scrambler 200 Verdict
While the KTNS Scrambler 200 tries to impress with its authentic chassis of a proper dual-purpose off-road motorcycle, something is lacking in this motorcycle, and that is finesse. The motorcycle has the build quality and long-term reliability issues, which are plaguing most of the Chinese two-wheelers sold around the globe. However, the specifications are promising and make the KTNS Scrambler 200 a decent off-road motorcycle, to begin with.
