Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS 2019

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 looks perfectly like how a litre class fully-faired motorcycle should look in the very first place – big and edgy. The sharp-looking bodywork, coupled with large dimensions, gives the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 a striking road presence.

At the front, the angular fairing of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is adorned with a rakish looking dual headlamp setup, which is all LED units, thus giving the Ninja 1000 a modern fascia. The large transparent fairing at the top gives the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 a taller stance when viewed from the front, while at the same time, making the motorcycle capable of withstanding windblasts at higher speeds.

The side panels of the full fairing of the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 have many sharp cuts, which give a touch of aggression to the overall design of the motorcycle. Towards the front, these side panels come integrated with clear lens turn indicators. These side panels partially hide the glorious inline-four engine with quad pipes emerging out of it. These pipes merge into two pairs in a 4-into-2 fashion, and flow towards the dual-sided double-barrel exhaust pipe, making the Ninja 1000 one of the very few motorcycles in the current times to come with a setup.

Compared to the bulky-looking front and side profiles, the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 looks sleeker while moving towards the rear. The compact tailpiece of the motorcycle is adorned with a wide pillion seat at the top and large split pillion grab rails, below which it also gets pannier holders. At the back, the motorcycle comes with a sweet looking LED tail lamp flanked with clear lens turn indicators, while placed at the top of the compact fender.

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 gets perfect sport tourer ergonomics, with slightly tall-set clip-on handlebars, behind which sits the comprehensive but slightly dated looking part-digital instrument console. This unit comprises an analogue tachometer, with different split LCD screens comprising of speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, clock, gear indicator and a couple of real-time data.

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is a sport-tourer, which offers a perfect combination of a sporty character of a supersport motorcycle and the comfort of a touring motorcycle in a single package. This combination is perfectly executed in its ride and handling balance, which feels both sporty and comfortable. The motorcycle comes with 41mm upside-down telescopic forks with stepless compression at the front and horizontal back-link gas-charged mono-shock with stepless rebound damping at the rear for suspension. For braking, the motorcycle has dual 300mm discs at the front and a single 250mm disc at the rear, while having a 120/70 ZR17 front tyre and 190/50 ZR17 rear tyre.

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 comes with the same four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-four, 1043cc engine, which powers a couple of other litre-class offerings from Kawasaki, like the Z1000 and Versys 1000. Coupled with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is ultra-refined and pumps out a maximum power output of 142 PS and a maximum torque output of 111 Nm.

The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 comes with some of the most necessary electronic riding aids and safety features of the current times, such as dual-channel ABS, traction control, assist and slipper clutch, 6-axis inertial measurement unit, cornering management function and three power modes.
