Honda NSS300 Review 2024
Talk about maxi scooters above the regular displacement capacity and you will see Honda standing tall right at the top. And why shouldn’t it, the NSS300 does punch a segment above it. Name anything and the big scooter has it. Comfort, styling, durability, be it anything you wish for, the two-wheeler has it.
Besides all of these, let’s not forget that the scooter is powerful too, much more than some of its competitors. It presently takes on the likes of the Kawasaki J300 and the Aprilia SR Max 300, both of which are more expensive than the RM 28,990 of the Honda.
Honda NSS300 Design
The Honda NSS300 does look extremely gorgeous. To say a few things, the front portion has a very big bike-like approach with a long windscreen and a fairing-like setup. Plus, there is a dual headlamp cluster up front which is big and bright. This set has multi-reflectors with halogen units.
The seating is very comfortable and plush and offers great ergonomics to the rider. In fact, the presence of a lumbar support-like backrest makes for a better ride quality. The information console is an analogue unit with four dials. The speedo and the tacho are given two main big dials while the other two small ones are for the fuel gauge.
NSS300 Ride & Handling
The Honda NSS300 rides and feels well for both the rider and pillion on board. The engine is good enough for an excellent performance delivery without being a fuel burner. This means you will have the adrenaline rushing to its peak despite having the economy on your pocket.
Want more? There is a huge 62-litre of under seat storage capacity which can hold a lot of your goods, especially when you are taking the long highway haul. If you want to know how big the storage is, stuff in two full face helmets and you will still have space left for other things.
For additional comfort, you can barely miss the sturdy suspension handled by telescopic for the front wheel and twin-shock absorbers for the rear with a swingarm done with steel.
Honda NSS300 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Honda NSS300 has a big 279 cc engine which has the much-needed liquid cooling feature to ease off the heating stress on long rides. The single cylinder motor makes 25.4 hp of power and 26 Nm of torque, enough for the riders to experience the fun.
The power delivery is very linear and there isn’t a lot to push, though the high torque does make a significant amount of feel-good factor. The power is sent down to the wheels via a V-Matic continuously variable transmission gearbox.
Moreover, the Euro-3 compliant PGM-fuel injected engine does turn out to be efficient both ways - economy and emission.
NSS300 Braking & Safety
There is a proverb that goes like - With great powers, comes great responsibilities. Hence, to complement to high power, the company has offered first class braking. There are hydraulic disc brakes for both the wheels, which are pretty potent on the stopping power.
If that was not enough, the company adds its tried-and-tested CBS (combined braking system) to make sure that the stopping power is generated from both the wheels. Moreover, the scooter even has ABS given as an option. And once you choose the ABS-enabled variant, the stopping power, without a doubt, turns to be excellent.
Apart from this, the maxi scooter has the HISS (Honda Ignition Security System) feature, which provides additional security, making for an anti-theft system.
Honda NSS300 Verdict
The Honda NSS300 does turn out to be a really amazing maxi-scooter in the sub-300 cc segment. All thanks to its amazing power and great features on the list. Making thing better is the price bracket where it is more affordable than most of its competitors.
However, if you consider the Aprilia SR Max 300, you will find the Honda to be much more powerful despite having a similar capacity engine. However, for the Kawasaki J300 ABS, the 299 cc engine makes more power by around two hp.
