Honda Air Blade Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The all-new Honda Air Blade got recently launched in Vietnam, December 2019 to be precise. It has lifted the manufacturer's entire lineup and has proven to be a fierce competitor in the segment. With its brand new edgy styling and sporty appeal, the 2020 Air Blade is all set to wow the young buyers, especially those looking for an AT bike that offers reliable driving dynamics, maximum comfort, and cool tech features. Also, the Air Blade series is not related to the brand's Fireblade series models like the CBR900RR and CBR400RR. As the later models are for thundering the race tracks, the former is more suited for young urban riders. Here is a detailed look at Honda's latest creation.
Honda Air Blade Design
The all-new Honda Air Blade makes a strong first impression and will instantly raise a few eyebrows. As mentioned, it showcases an aggressive styling paired with a sporty stance. If anything, the scooter reflects the same length as the Honda Click 150i and is slightly shorter than the Honda PCX 150. Its specs sheet tells us it measures 1919 mm in length, 679 mm in width, and 1062 mm in height. With a total curb weight of 113 kg, it is a bit heavy but delivers a stong road present. The ground clearance and wheelbase is 139 mm and 1313 mm, respectively.
Talking about its design language, the Air Blade is as sharp and sleek as its name. At the front, it benefits from rectangular LED dual headlights that provide ample light making the night rides safe and secure. Also, the shape of the headlamps is different from what we usually see in models, and it resembles a car's lighting unit. The turn signals are placed above the twin headlights, giving the Air Blade a distinctive look. At the rear, it features LED taillamps that are again coupled with twin turn indicators. The power generated by the engine is sent to stylish 14-inch alloy wheels, while the exhaust a sports bike like design. The bike is offered in new eye-catching colours like Matte Galaxy Black Metallic, Candy Carridean Blue Sea, and Candy Rose Red.
Amazing tech features greet the rider like a new fully digital meter panel, Honda's smart key system with keyless ignition, multi-function key shutter, and integrated buttons for fuel tank lid and under-seat storage. The new Air Blade also comes with the Idling Stop System that limits unnecessary fuel consumption, especially in high traffic situations. Under the seat storage of 22.7-litre is big enough to fit two helmets.
Air Blade Ride & Handling
Telescopic front forks and twin rear shock suspension make up the new Air Blade's suspension setup. Together they work towards providing a comfortable ride and easy maneuverability. The scooter only weighs 113 kg, which aids in agility in a big way. The slim profile and 1313 mm wheelbase only adds to its super ride and handling factor. The ground clearance of 139 mm, at times, is a matter worry as there is a fear of scraping the bottom at rough terrain. The 773 mm seat height makes it apt for riders of all heights. The handlebars are low but won't cause any discomfort to the rider.
Honda Air Blade Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the 2020 Honda Air Blade is a 150cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC single-cylinder engine making a maximum power of 13 hp at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 13.3 Nm at 5000 rpm. In terms of refinement and reliability, the Air Blade secures full marks. And so does the V-Belt automatic transmission. The 5th-gen Air Blade is also available in 125cc mill option that puts out 11.3 hp and 11.68 Nm of torque. The engines come equipped with Intelligent Low Friction that controls vibration and fiction during acceleration and thus resulting is smooth ride quality. The Alternating Current Generator (ACG) Starter makes starting & re-starting process efficient, and it works well with the idling stop system. Further, the bikes combustion chamber has been updated for better riding experience. Moreover, the PGM-Fi uses the Engine Control Unit to level up the fuel injection, fuel efficiency, engine performance, and provide cleaner exhaustion.
The Honda Air Blade 150 returns up to 47 kmpl of milage and with a full tank the scooter can go up to 200 km.
