Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic

If you are someone who has a thing for old-school designs with authentic visual appeal, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic should be that motorcycle that should rank high in your books. While several motorcycles have come and gone, the Heritage Classic has retained the quintessential American essence in its design, which hasn’t changed much in all these years.

At the front, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic comes with three rounded lamps, all of which are all-LED units with the central round headlamp being larger than the other two lamps flanking it. Above the entire headlamp unit, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic has a huge and curved transparent windscreen that is adjustable for its height. Below the headlamps, the motorcycle comes with a tubular bolt-on part, on which the rounded turn indicators are mounted just below the auxiliary lamps beside the main headlamp in the centre.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic comes with huge and curved front and rear fenders like old-school original American cruisers. Both the front and rear fenders of the motorcycle come with chrome garnish on their lower parts. The motorcycle is available with both the options of an all-black theme and an all-chrome theme for the engine and exhaust pipes, with both of them also getting the option of black alloy wheels and spoke wheels.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic comes equipped with a split seat arrangement for both the rider and the pillion, with the latter mounted directly on the rear fender. Towards the rear, the motorcycle comers armed with black-coloured panniers on either side of the rear fender. On the lowermost tip of the rear fender, the motorcycle gets its tail lamp assembly, with the license plate placed above the tail lamp.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic has a huge curved handlebar and a rounded instrument console mounted on the slanted panel above the fuel tank. This console gets an analogue speedometer and a small LCD panel for the odometer and trip meters. Apart from these details, the instrument console doesn’t get any other detail, which makes it look quite basic.

The overall mechanical architecture of the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is quite old-school, just like the rest of the design of the motorcycle. It comes equipped with dual-bending valve 49mm hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a hidden, free-piston, coil-over mono-shock at the rear, both of which come with preload adjustment. For braking purposes, a combination of dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear are used. The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic rolls on 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear tyres.

The Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is powered by a four-stroke, air-cooled, V-twin, Milwaukee-Eight 1868cc engine, which powers most of the big cruisers of the American bike maker. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is capable enough to produce 94 PS of maximum power and a peak torque output of 160 Nm. As with traditional Harley Davidson motorcycles, the Heritage Classic also has an enjoyable midrange with plenty of torque available across the lower and mid-rev ranges.

Apart from a dual-channel ABS and a built-in security system, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic doesn’t have any other safety features.

While the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic impresses with its mammoth size, resulting in a good road presence and a charming design, the motorcycle doesn’t come with many features which justify its high asking price. However, for those who want a beautiful and comfortable cruising experience, the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic is just the right motorcycle.
