Audi Q5 Sportback

The entire cabin of the Audi Q5 Sportback is the same as that of the Q5 SUV. Even the dual-tone black and brown leather upholstery is something that we have already seen in the Q5 Sportback.

The cabin looks elegant and up-to-date with modern elements like a virtual cockpit plus a full TFT instrument console, a chunky-looking flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel, and a free-standing 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Audi Connect and Audi MMI navigation plus with MMI touchpad. The lower centre console houses a sleek-looking panel for automatic climate control, with a wide transmission tunnel arising below it. These panels look rich with aluminum inlays and piano black touches.

The cabin of the Audi Q5 Sportback is properly plush and expensive with features like three-zone automatic climate control, an acoustic windscreen, ambient lighting, powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 3D sound, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Audi Q5 is already a great-looking car, to begin with. However, the Q5 Sportback takes the appeal quotient one notch higher with its sloping roofline towards the rear. This trend was started by the BMW X6 and has been now well executed in the Audi Q5 as well. The styling revision towards the rear enhances the road presence even more.

The front profile of the Audi Q5 Sportback is the same as that of the Audi Q5 SUV, with a large hexagonal grille with tapered edges on the sides and hexagonal chrome-studded mesh on the inside. Along with the front grille, the large fog lamp housings present on the front bumper also get satin chrome surrounds. The trapezoidal headlamps on the Audi Q5 Sportback have LED headlamps with signature LED daytime running lights, however, you have the option of going for Matrix LED headlamps.

The side profile of the Audi Q5 Sportback shares much with the Q5 SUV, except for the sloping down roofline, which alters the design of the C-pillar and window surrounds, the latter of which are rounded and come finished in chrome. The door panels and the smoothly flowing character line flowing from the edge of the headlamp to the tail lamp is shared with the Q5.

At the back, the sloping down roofline ends up with a rakish rear windscreen and a stubby design for the boot lid. The lower half of the boot lid shares much with the Q5 SUV with edgy-looking LED tail lamps and a nice strip of chrome flowing in between the two. The sating chrome finish is carried out well on the rear bumper as well. You can also opt for optional OLED tail lamps, which have three different LED lighting patterns.

Thanks to the revised coupe-like styling at the rear, the Audi Q5 Sportback has better straight-line and cornering stability due to enhanced aerodynamics. The multi-link suspension with damper control at both front and rear, along with Quattro all-wheel drive, Audi drive select with efficiency mode make the overall driving experience even more dynamic.

The Audi Q5 Sportback has the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, which powers the Q5 SUV as well. Available with a 7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel-drive, the engine makes a maximum power output of 249 bhp and a peak torque output of 370 Nm. The Audi Q5 Sportback has a claimed top speed of 237 kmph and a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 6.3 seconds.

The Audi Q5 Sportback shares its safety equipment list with the Q5 SUV, which includes front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, Park assist with a 360-degree camera, and a host of ADAS features.

The Audi Q5 Sportback offers an additional touch of visual appeal at the rear, which increases the road presence and style quotient of the already swanky-looking Q5. Barring the compromised headroom due to the sloping roofline, there is no other reason which deters you to stretch the premium which it asks for over the regular Q5.
