Zapp i300 Carbon electric scooter breaks cover in Germany

KUALA LUMPUR: In the European and Asian markets, electric scooters are quite popular these days and the credit goes to their emission-free technology, lightweight, and easy maneuvering. The recent player looking to grab a share in this segment is the all-new Zapp i300 Carbon electric scooter. Manufactured by a British electric two-wheeler startup Zapp, the EV is quite unique and can surely garner a lot of attention.

The Zapp i300 features a sleek and space-age styling with minimalistic bodywork and LED illumination all around. The frame of the scooter is ‘Z-shaped’ and it is made of aerospace-grade aluminium clad in composite material. Upfront, we can see a fully digital screen with a few switches placed below it, which has no connectivity options or any modern-day features. An optional carbon fibre under-seat storage compartment is also a part of the kit.

At the heart of the new Zapp i300 Carbon electric scooter lies a 0.72-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, comprising two swappable batteries of 1.4-kW, each weighing just 5.4 kilograms. The batteries are mated to an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 7.2 kW and a peak torque of 85 Nm. With this grunt, the electric scooter can reach a top speed of 96 kmph.

As far as the Zapp i300 driving range is concerned, the automaker claimed a run of 64 km (40 miles) on a single charge.

The suspension duties are taken care of by a USD fork on the front and a monoshock on the rear, both offer preload adjustability. As for braking, the scooter gets a front and rear disc brake setup with CBS. With a total weight of 92 kg, it rolls on 14-inch cast aluminium wheels shod with 120/70 front and 140/60 rear tyres.

The new Zapp i300 Carbon electric scooter is now on sale in Germany at an eye-brow raising price of 6,300 Euros (approximately equal to RM 31,264).
