Yamaha Malaysia introduces new colourways for Y16ZR

KUALA LUMPUR: After introducing the special Y16ZR World GP 60th Anniversary Edition back in April, Yamaha Malaysia has now come up with new colourways for the standard Y16ZR. The new colour palette comprises three options - Glacier White, Phantom Neon, and Flaming Silver replacing the older Phantom Grey, Arrow Blue, and Raging Yellow.

With the colour update, the Y16ZR price has increased to RM 11,118 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration), which shows a hike of RM 230 over the last year's pricing. Just like earlier, the price includes a two-year/20,000 km (whichever comes earlier) manufacturer warranty. Each purchase is also accompanied by a Yamaha safety disc lock worth RM 100. For the sake of comparison, the Y16ZR World GP 60th Anniversary Edition, which is limited to just 5000 units, is priced at RM 11,688.

Rest of the Y16ZR specifications remain identical with a 155-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine powering the bike. The engine cranks out a maximum power output of 17.7 hp at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Sending power to the wheels is a six-speed gearbox mated to an assist and slipper clutch system. The capacity of the fuel tank is measured at 5.4-litres.

Among the striking design and tech features of the Y16ZR are -

• Front LED headlight setup with separate high and low beams
• LED daytime running lights
• LCD screen
• 12-volt charging socket
• 17-inch wheels wrapped with 90/80-17 front and 120/70-17 rear tyres

As for the suspension, the bike is fitted with 10 mm taller conventional telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The braking duties are handled by a two-piston calliper and 245 mm hydraulic units at both the front and rear ends. Unfortunately, no ABS is yet available on the Y16ZR. 

The 2022 Yamaha Y16ZR is now available at Yamaha’s authorised dealerships across the nation.
