Triumph unveils 2019 Speed Twin
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin has been launched globally. Previously, in October, it was revealed in front of the dealers at the Global Dealer Conference.
The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin is pretty much identical to the 1937 Speed Twin, brand's first high-performance parallel twin. The two-wheeler receives some styling cues from the new 2019 Street Twin, while the performance is taken from the Thruxton R.
Triumph has given a new frame for the bike’s handle. It comes with 41 mm diameter telescopic forks having radial-mounted four-piston Brembo calliper. The bike rides on the 7-spoke aluminium alloy wheels, which are wrapped in Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 tyres. The bike features Anti-lock Braking system along with traction control.
The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin comes with a 14-litre fuel tank and it is built with aluminium. The two-wheeler comes with three color options - Korosi Red/Storm, Silver Ice/Storm Grey, and Jet Black.
The bike comes with a more upright stance than the Thruxton, while it will have a bit more sporty stance than the regular T120. The bike features a bit more aggressive ergonomics and it comes with a seat height of 807 mm.
The new Triumph Speed Twin features an upgraded eight-valve engine where the engine mapping is shared with the sports-oriented Triumph Thruxton. The 1,200 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine is capable of making a maximum of 95 hp power at 750 rpm along with a peak torque of 112 Nm at a rev range of 4,950 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle comes with a high compression cylinder head along with a low inertia crank, provided with an 11.0:1 ratio. It gets a modified clutch, which reduces the effort of the lever.
