Triumph TE-1 Electric prototype revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Triumph has taken its first step in the electrification world with the unveiling of the TE-1 electric motorcycle prototype.
For a while Triumph was sharing mockup drawings of its electric model, but not any more. The beast you see in the pictures is a fully operational and working prototype of the company’s first electric motorcycle.
The main objective behind this project is to develop a competent e-motorcycle that will become Triumph’s electrifying pillar for the future and will subsequently enhance the credibility of British industry and design.
In the future, Triumph might change a few things, however, a few major components like the exposed frame and the attractive single-sided swingarm will remain intact.
The Triumph TE-1 Electric prototype is not only the brand’s first e-bike but also the first to feature several innovations. Part of kit are -
- Triumph Motorcycle control software
- Frame & rear-subframe
- Final drive system including transmission
- Panels & wheels
- Gates Carbon belt drive
- Brembo M50 monobloc callipers
- Ohlins RSU
- Ohlins USD cartridge forks
Furthermore, the completion of the TE-1 prototype marks the end of Triumph’s partnership with several key players, like Williams Advanced Engineering, Integral Powertrain Ltd., and WMG at University of Warwick. What did Triumph gained from these collabs?
Well, WMG ensured that the project is on course to deliver the intended durability and performance. Integral Powertrain Ltd., on the other hand, provided the final engine with a scalable integrated inverter and combined motor with silicon carbide switching technology and integrated cooling.
Triumph also shared in its official statement that TE-1 prototype test results exceeded the benchmark set by the UK Automotive Council for 2025.
Triumph TE-1 prototype tests are expected to be fully completed in the summer.
