Triumph acquires kids e-bike manufacturer, OSET

KUALA LUMPUR: For those who aren’t aware, OSET is the world's leading electric dirt, trail, and motocross motorcycle brand for children from the age of 3. The 2004 established brand has now been acquired by Triumph as part of its plan to widen its horizon and offer a full range of off-road motorcycles for the new generation of riders.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Why has Triumph acquired OSET?

Triumph has acquired kids dirt bike manufacturer, OSET, as part of its plan to widen its horizon and offer a full range of off-road motorcycles for the new generation of riders. Both companies the opportunity to benefit from each other's knowledge and experience.
  • On the acquisition, Nick Bloor, Triumph CEO said, “We are excited about the opportunity of joining forces with OSET Bikes: a dynamic brand that has been encouraging children into motorcycling for many years and have been at the forefront of developing electric trials bikes for fun and competition.“

He further added, “Whilst the two brands will continue working independently, Triumph and OSET will collaborate on new state-of-the-art products to inspire young riders into off-road riding, across the segments that Triumph and OSET will have a presence in, drawing on their respective strengths to build the best bikes in the world.”

This exciting step by Triumph Motorcycles comes ahead of the launch of its Enduro and Motocross range and sits perfectly within the brand’s strategy to enter the off-road segment. The acquisition offers both companies the opportunity to benefit from each other's knowledge and experience. Thus, allowing both to grow internationally in a parallel fashion.

Triumph and OSET are one now

OSET Bikes CEO, Ian Smith said, “When we built that first ‘garage’ bike for my son, Oliver, I had no idea that it would lead to this moment. We are all very excited for what the future holds for OSET as part of the Triumph family.

He added, “The OSET brand will remain as OSET and will continue to serve the trials and off-road motorcycling community. We are now better positioned to develop and innovate across our range, while enjoying the security of scale and market position Triumph can offer OSET”

Triumph and OSET will share experties & resources

In its 18 years of existence, OSET has sold more than 40,000 units worldwide, all of which benefited from an in-house developed engine. Now, with Triumph and its philosophy ‘For The Ride’ in the picture, the two brands will be able to inspire future generations of riders via offering them the perfect starting point to develop their own passion & dreams.
