This is Baja’s first attempt toward electric mobility
KUALA LUMPUR: Baja has finally made its way ahead its way ahead the electrification path with the Chetak electric scooter.
The all-new Bajaj Chetak e-scooter has been unveiled by the brand and is set to go first go on sale in Europe. Though not so soon, as per the company’s official statement, the said scooter will be available to customers in 2024.
KTM has been awarded the distribution rights of the Chetak electric scooter; the same company’s CEO, Stefan Piere, confirmed the news.
KTM’s top man said, “We will be launching Chetak in 2024. It may hit roads post-March, as it is a starting time for the on-road season. The price point will be very competitive, and it will be taking on products from Chinese and Taiwanese companies. It will be across all central European markets.”
He added, “The second generation is a very nice product. We will use it as Chetak, it is a known brand, and we will be saving money on marketing and digitalization. Secondly, Chetak stands for its famous history in India, and it will help us too.”
Though the information about the electric Chetak is limited at the moment, we do know that it will continue to carry forward the Chetak brand name, due to its rich history.
In addition to the Chetak electric scooter, KTM along with Baja is also busy developing a 48-volt e-motorcycle. More information about this is expected to be released sooner than later.
