Suzuki’s plan for its Malaysian lineup

Suzuki’s plan for its Malaysian lineup

KUALA LUMPUR: We have been saying that the Malaysian motorcycle market is experiencing some of its best times with several upcoming and new launches. For instance, QJMotor just opened the booking for the 2022 SRK600, the launch of the new Suzuki GSX-R150, GSX-S150, Raider R150, Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer, and the 2022 Moto Morini X-Cape 650, to name a few. And in the upcoming months, more interesting motorcycles are lined up to enter Malaysia.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will the new Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 arrive?

Suzuki Malaysia has confirmed its intentions to launch two new motorcycles in the local market in 2023.
  • What are the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 key highlights?

The two upcoming motorcycles will feature highly illuminated LED headlights and LED tail lights, styling yet compact digital instrument panel, and an easy start system for a stress-free ignition.
  • Suzuki Malaysia, however, is a step ahead and has confirmed its intentions to launch two new motorcycles in the local market in 2023. The two motorcycles are the ever-so-popular Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250.

Our neighbors like India and Thailand already benefit from Suzuki’s quarter-litre duo. They are now excited to see it here in Malaysia.

So, what shall we expect from Suzuki’s upcoming naked twins? Let’s find out.

Engine: Both Gixxer’s are the product of Hayabusa and GSX-R and therefore are the latest from the brand’s lineage of legends. Powering them will be a 249 cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine making 26.5 PS at 9,300 rpm and a peak torque of 22.2 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

    Braking & Handling

The Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 get disc brakes at both ends, and the suspension setup would be taken off by telescopic at the front and swingarm at the rear.

    Features

The motorcycles will benefit from an aggressive design; the Gixxer SF 250 sports bike looks more rugged thanks to its European design. We expect the bikes to get highly illuminated LED headlights and LED tail lights, styling yet compact digital instrument panel, and an easy start system for a stress-free ignition. The SF 250 would get a few additional gears like clip-on handlebars for sporty performance.

    Styling

The two Gixxers would be easily distinguished thanks to their unique design attributes. While the Gixxer SF 250 will showcase a full-faired and sporty look, the Gixxer 250 will have a more upright riding position and be less-faired.

    In other news...

Apart from indirectly confirming the Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer 250, Yamaha Malaysia also announced the soon arrival of ABS-equipped versions of the recently launched GSX-150, GSX-S 150, and Raider R150Fi. However, with the global shortage of raw materials used in ABS sensor manufacturing, it would be interesting to see how Suzuki delivers.
