KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Suzuki motorcycles in Malaysia recently announced the arrival of three new hunks in the town via a post on its social media account. Included in the list are the Katana, GSX-R1000, and GSX-R1000R. The new models imported from Japan are now available at all authorized Suzuki dealers across the nation for viewing. Let’s discuss each one, starting with the Katana.
2021 Suzuki Katana
Based on the Suzuki GSX-S1000, the Katana is one of the brand’s most unique offerings in the segment. It gets power from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-four, fuel-injected, 999-cc engine that delivers a maximum power output of 150 PS at 10,000 rpm and 108 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and Suzuki Clutch Assist System.
In terms of electronics, the bike features three-mode traction control and a dual-channel ABS as standard. The suspension duties are taken care of by a USD fork up front and a linked mono-shock setup on the back. For braking, the automaker has equipped the bike with twin discs with Brembo radial front calipers and a single rear disc.
