Suzuki Katana gets updates for 2022 in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: The premium litre-class naked roadster, Suzuki Katana, has recently received some minor updates for the home market. These include some cosmetic changes and a few refinements in terms of engine and electronics control. Let’s know them in detail.

Based on the sharp styling of the legendary GSX1100S, the latest Katana comes in new Matt Stella Blue Metallic (blue) and Mystic Silver Metallic (silver) shades. The former is a newly added option while the latter has been inherited from the past. Complementing the striking new colours of the bike are golden forks and wheels. 

Besides these, the sporty Katana continues to attract enthusiasts with its squarish headlight, a muscular fuel tank, and a blacked-out upswept exhaust. The bike also comes with a new LCD instrument console with a "night mode." 

Coming to the engine & electronic control updates, Suzuki introduces a new throttle-by-wire system for the 2022 model. Also, there is an upgraded electronics pack, which offers more power, lesser emissions, and improved torque delivery across the rev range. 

The 998-cc water-cooled 4-stroke parallel 4-cylinder DOHC4 valve engine is now Euro 5-compliant and churns out a maximum power output of 150 hp i.e.three more horses than the outgoing model. 

Adding to the list of upgrades on the 2022 Katana are a bidirectional quick shifter and a better five-level traction control system. The automaker improved the settings of the latter to provide an even more engaging experience to the riders. As for better comfort, rubber-mounted handlebars and a better slipper-assist clutch system are also added to the kit.
