Say hello to Benelli’s new adventure tourer, the TRK 702

KUALA LUMPUR: Benelli has expanded its portfolio in China by adding another ADV, called the TRK 702. Built on the success of the little brother TRK 502, the new adventure tourer competes against the Kawasaki Versys 650 and Yamaha Tenere 700 in its segment. It is offered in two versions - Standard and a more off-road oriented ‘X’ variant.

The Benelli TRK 702 price in the Chinese market starts at CNY 46,800 (approximately equal to RM 30,396) and goes all the way up to CNY 50,800 (RM 32,994). The mentioned prices exclude taxes.

Here’s what the new Benelli ADV offers -

While the muscular TRK 702 looks quite similar to the TRK 502, it features a more chunky bodywork, sharper headlights coupled with a sturdy-looking beak, and a fairly tall stance. Unlike the TRK 502, the fuel tank section of the new model is smaller.

The bike houses advanced features like a heated seat, heated grips, a fully digital instrument console, and a high-definition front camera for recording while riding.

However, the two variants set them apart with different wheel designs. The standard trim rolls on 17-inch cast alloy wheels, while the 702X Is fitted with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, sprayed with bronze-gold finishing.

On the mechanical front, both versions of the tourer are powered by the same 693-cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine kicking out a maximum power output of 75 hp and a peak torque of 68.2 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox paired with a slipper clutch. 

As for the suspension, it comes fitted with USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking duties are performed by dual front discs and a single disc at the rear along with a dual-channel anti-lock braking system.
