MODENAS launches new Kawasaki Z650RS; expands dealer network

KUALA LUMPUR: MODENAS (Motosikal & Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad, has launched the all-new locally assembled Kawasaki Z650 RS in Malaysia. The new Kawasaki bike blends retro styling with modern performance, perfect for the ones who appreciate classic aesthetics and the latest technology.

2025 Kawasaki Z650RS Key highlights

• Built as a CKD model in Gurun, Kedah, the bike features a lightweight chassis with an upright riding position. 
• It is powered by a 649-cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled 8-valves DOHC engine producing a maximum power of 68 PS at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 64 Nm at 6,700 rpm.
• Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch.

• The bike rides on 17-inch cast alloy multi-spoke wheels, wrapped with 120/70 and 160/60 tyres.
• Handling the suspension setup are telescopic front forks (41 mm in diameter) and a preload-adjustable monoshock.
• It can handle minor obstacles without scraping the underbody thanks to its 125 mm ground clearance.

• The braking system incorporates twin 300 mm diameter discs (with two-piston callipers) at the front and a 220 mm disc (single-piston calliper) at the rear. Both are complemented by ABS.
• With a 13-litres fuel tank capacity, the Kawasaki Z650RS tips the scales at 187 kg.
• The bike also features Kawasaki Traction Control with three modes, an economical riding indicator, and a dual dial instrumentation with multi-functional LCD
• The Z650RS offers a comfortable riding position with a seat height measuring 800 mm.

New Kawasaki 4S showroom opens

In conjunction with the new bike launch, Modenas also opened a new Kawasaki 4S showroom in Puncak Alam, which further expands the brand’s footprint in the country.

Operated by Puncak Alam Motoworld Sdn Bhd, it is the 7th Kawasaki 4S showroom in Malaysia and 2nd in Selangor. Being a 4S centre, it ensures comprehensive sales and after-sales services to Kawasaki customers and owners.
