Meet Zero Motorcycles latest e-bike, the 2022 Zero 7.2 FXE
KUALA LUMPUR: Zero Motorcycles has launched a new electric e-bike that goes by the name Zero 7.2 FXE. It is based on the ongoing 7.2 FXS model which it will also be replacing.
2022 Zero 7.2 FEX benefits from supermotard styling and is designed in collaboration with Huge Design SF, an industrial design firm based in San Francisco.
With the price starting from US$ 11,795, the Zero 7.2 FXE is powered by an air-cooled Z-Force 75-5 brushless motor that pumps out a maximum power of 46 hp at 4300 rpm along with a peak torque of 106 Nm. The top speed is limited to 137 kmph while sustained efficient speed is 121 kmph with 165 km range in city and 97 km on the highway. A Z-Force lithium-ion battery pack rated at 7.2 kWh with a nominal capacity of 6.3 kWh stores the power.
The rear wheels are directly driven by the framed-mourned motor via a Poly Chain carbon belt with a 90/18 sprocket ratio.
Zero Motorcycles claim that the FEX has a fuel economy of 227.27 kmpl in the city and 90.91 kmpl on the highway.
Braking and Suspension
The braking duty is handled by J Juan with the single hydraulic disc at the front and Bosh Gen 9 two-channel ABS setup at the rear. Taking care of suspension is a Showa 41 mm upside-down front fork, fully adjustable and the rear gets fully-adjustable Showa mono-shock with piggy-back reservoir.
Charging details
A standard 650W built-in charger takes 9.7 hours to fully charge the battery, with 110 to 220 Volt domestic current. If a single accessory charger is added to the configuration, the charging time drops to 4.1 hours. The time further comes down to 1.8 hours, if the maximum number of accessory chargers are used.
