Malaysia gets a new sports bike, the 2021 GPX Demon GR200R

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read just right. We have a new sports motorcycle in the country, giving the enthusiasts and prospective buyers a reason to smile in these tough times (pandemic situation).

GPX Moto has launched the all-new 2021 Demon GR200R in the local market and it will go on sale in May this year. This made in Thailand two-wheeler is priced at RM 11,388 (excludes registration, road tax, and insurance).

This new full-size sports motorcycle has been introduced as a replacement for the older Demon 150GR and joins the other 200cc offerings in the company’s lineup like the Gentleman 200.

At the first glance, the latest GPX reminds us of the Yamaha YZF-R1 superbike, so you can’t complain about this area. It gets twin LED headlights, placed on either side of the fairing, LED DRLs on the top half of the front cowl. Note, LED lighting is used throughout. Furthermore, it is offered in three colour options - Black Space, Red Fire, and Matte Grey.

What powers the 2021 GPX Demon GR200R?

The new GPX sports bike sources its power from a 198 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes a maximum power of 19 hp along with a peak torque of 17.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive.

What about is braking & suspension duties?

For such a powerful bike an equally capable braking system is needed. So, for the Demon GR200R, GPX has chosen single hydraulic discs with two-piston calliper and single-pot calliper with 220 mm disc at the back. ABS is omitted this time around.

Assuring a smooth ride, on the other hand, is its superb suspension setup that includes an non-adjustable upside-forks and preload-adjustable YSS monoshock at the front and back, respectively.
