Kawasaki’s first EV bike debut date announced
KUALA LUMPUR: The entire automotive industry is undergoing the most significant transition to electric vehicles, in which the conservative Japanese bike maker Kawasaki is quite late. Well, it’s better to be late than never. The brand is working on three electric bikes, of which one will be unleashed on June 7, 2022.

The upcoming Kawasaki electric bikes include a fully electric version of the Ninja 300 and a hybrid model based on the Ninja 400-like tubular steel frame.Ahead of the debut, Kawasaki teased the model which is actually an electric children’s motocross bike, or we can say the balance bike. It seems the automaker is trying to play safely in the electric vehicle space, unlike Harley Davidson.
While there is no official info on the bike’s name and other details yet, it is likely to be called Elektrode as Kawasaki has trademarked this moniker in several international markets.
The caption of the teaser video reads, “Good times are electric”. It shares a tiny glimpse of the upcoming Kawasaki EV in the reflection on the rider’s helmet visor; this confirms that the machine will arrive in the brand’s signature lime green shade.
Other upcoming Kawasaki EVs
Last year, Kawasaki unveiled its plan to go electric by the end of 2035 with either having fully-electric or hybrid-electric bikes in the portfolio. In the list of its coming soon EVs is a fully electric version of the Ninja 300 that will underpin the earlier revealed EV Endeavor concept. We witnessed the first appearance of this electric two-wheeler back in 2019, followed by the floated images of its patent filing on the internet.
Another upcoming Kawasaki EV is a hybrid model based on a concept prototype revealed last year. The concept underpins the Ninja 400-like tubular steel frame with a 399-cc parallel-twin ICE motor and a large electric motor.
