Honda RS150R - All you need to know
It was in 2016 when Honda launched its kapchai, the RS150R in Malaysia, and since then there has been no turning back. This bike has stood the test of time and gained good numbers for the brand. Over the years it hasn't received any major update apart for the addition of new color options that's been done now and then. In the Malaysian market, this bike competes with the likes of Yamaha Y15ZR, Benelli RFS150i, and SYM VF3i.
In this article, we'll be discussing each and every aspect of the Honda RS150R. So, in case you are planning to buy one, read on and get to know all about it here -
Sporty, aggressive styling
Undoubtedly the most aggressive bike in the Honda lineup, this kapchai looks like nothing else. It has the styling that matches its performance. After its 2017 revision, it takes a hell lot of inspiration from superbikes much bigger, and the company has moulded the styling to fit its frame. From the dual LED headlights and taillights to gorgeous sporty bodywork and racy stance and graphics, the RS150R makes no attempts to hide its sporty side. More functional elements like the sporty exhaust, wide tires and subtler touches only add to the bike's sporty flair. The best thing about it is the exclusive color schemes it is offered in - Pearl Metallic White (Trico), Candy Scintillate Red, Pearl Nightfall Blue, and Repsol Honda. It is to be noted that the first and last color option comes at a slightly higher price.
Modern engine
This aggressive looking scooter from Honda is powerful as well. Powering it is a 149.7cc four-valve per cylinder water-cooled engine that produces 15.6 hp at 9000 rpm and 13.5 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. This is enough to propel the lightweight bike to a top speed of 122 kmph. The power is sent down to the wheels via a 6-speed transmission unit that lets the rider use the output optimally. It is to be noted that the 6th gear acts as overdrive and there is enough output generated to take you through any terrain.
Power delivery is a bit snatchy at the first and afterward its linear. Being a Honda, you can rest assured about the reliability of this power unit. As it was only a few years back when 25 countries were covered over a period of 6 months on the RS150R. Also, the noise from the engine is manageable, and there is near to zero vibration felt on the handlebar by the rider.
Urban practicality and safety
Despite all the sportiness, the Honda RS150R is a very practical motorcycle. Especially for the modern-day rider. The starter is lightweight than the conventional units and also gives a silent starts. The under seat storage is spacious enough to fit a full face helmet. The RS150R comes with a lithium digital meter that looks sophisticated and displays all the information clearly. Moving on, the LED headlights not only look stylish but also improve the visibility by manifold.
Talking about the seating posture, it is neutral, and the seat height is around 750 mm that is accommodating for shorter riders as well. The suspension setup has been tuned for excellent driving dynamics and comfort. To be specific, there is a telescopic suspension unit at the front and Monosok at the rear. The wide 90/80-17M tubeless tyres on the front and 120/70-17 tyres on the rear wheel inspire confidence. Also, the hydraulic disc brake on the front and rear stops the bike with surety.
The Honda RS150R bring a lot to the table. It is suitable for daily commuting from point A to B and emphasizes on refinement and comfort, and all this without giving up on performance and styling. It is a versatile vehicle and promises to keep up with the rider's energy and sportiness.
